Hedin and Rem's stay at Crusch's mansion began from there on. The first two days passed by in a breeze. The Yang magic professor arrived and Hedin was able to learn from practical experience.
The forbidden library had hundreds of years of knowledge, but it didn't mean Hedin was able to digest all of it. There was a difference in both practical experience and understanding. He wasn't very smart to begin with and he couldn't recklessly use the miracle to learn every single spell.
The instructor, an 81 year old male named Uslov, helped him through a lot of them.
Hedin learned 3 new spells on the first day - only their basic variations. Basic spells that strengthened the user or allies. Alongside that, he went over the basic Yang Magic theory again.
Yang Magic, as it turns out, is one of the more powerful affinities in terms of pure destructive power. Hedin knew that, but the extent of it's power, he was unaware of.
Uslov told him of one of the most destructive spells of Yang Magic, one that he had personally never been able to master. It was was a level three application of the basic spell Akra - Al Akra. Al Akra was apparently able to make a veil of light as hot as the sun around the user, burning anything that came near. In theory, it could envelope an entire city. It depended on the user too. Akra spells were predominantly strength enhancing spells; and so, the destruction was only secondary.
The primary effect was to turn the user's body into a living battle machine, turning the blood into magma, the organs into light and the soul into wil 'o wisp.
Hedin believed him. He did not doubt that somewhere along the history of this world, there might have been a magician who had turned his own body into molten magma to test out a new magic spell. And so, it was quite obvious why Uslov had never mastered this spell. Using it meant almost certain death for the user.
As for how long the user could stay alive after using the spell, in order to use the strength gained, Hedin did not know. He presumed the time to be not too long.
Anyways, the rest of the day was spent messing around with Rem and another short spar with Wilhelm; a spar that again ended in his defeat.
Hedin couldn't sleep at night so he went around the capital and explored.
Lugunica was quite lively even at night. The merchant's streets that is. Most of the residential area was, of course, deserted at night. The noble's district didn't gain much traffic to begin with and the slums were too dangerous for people to be wandering around at night.
Hedin, dressed in his trench coat, hat, and a face cover was able to explore without anyone bothering him. His unique visage alone kept trouble makers at bay.
And so came the next day. His morning started with a short training session of his own.
Then, till noon, he studied yang magic with Uslov. This time, he practiced the first level applications of the basic spells - with the prefix El.
And finally, as his Yang Magic lesson ended, came the time to learn healing magic.
"Healing is a gentle spell, nya." Felix said with a smile. They were seated on opposite sides of a table in the library. No books were on the table as Felix proclaimed they would 'only get in the way.' "It is quite unlike other forms of magic. Healing is not only dependent nyon the personal skill and gate, but also the mindset.
"People that have more regard for life and injuries and pain tend to be better at healing than others. While some might have very weak healing, no water nyuser is entirely incapable of using it, although some exceptions are there, like Lord Mathers. Although he is the most prodigious magician of the kingdom, coming from a family that has served as royal magicians for centuries, he is completely unable to use healing magic. If he was capable of it, he would no doubt be better than me simply because of the difference in skill and power."
"I see." Hedin nodded. Personal ability and a regard for life huh... I qualify for those things I suppose. He mused.
"In all honesty, healing is better suited to be learnt through experience. There's actually very little to be learnt about it in terms of theory. Nyow of course, knowledge of biology and physiology helps a lot in the healing. It can streamline the process and lessen the load on the user when doing it."
Felix held a surgical knife and presented it to Hedin.
"Make a small cut on your finger." Hedin grabbed the knife and make a cut on the tip of his finger. "Nyow-" Suddenly, Felix quieted down.
He looked to Hedin and pointed at his finger.
Hedin looked down. The spirits had already closed the wound.
"Oh." He said, grabbing the knife and making the same cut again. Instantly, the wound closed itself.
Hedin felt a bit speechless.
His spiritual affinity had really become too high. It had not been like this when he first arrived. Evidently, the use of glory makes the spirits like him more and more.
Does that mean if I continue to use glory, my spirit affinity would continue to increase? Can it really increase indefinitely?
He had not felt that his increasing spiritual affinity would pose problems like this. Even now, he could feel a whole swarm of them wrapping all around him, brushing against his skin, looking for any injuries to heal. The spirits liked him too much.
He was truly suffering from success.
He sighed and made a bigger cut on his palm. Again, the wound closed instantly.
"..."
"..."
"Ahem!" He coughed and exposed his entire forearm.
"Wait, that's a bit too extreme for an experiment's sake." Felix sighed. "Although feeling the healing take place would have helped nyou get the feel for it, it can't be helped. Nyou're spiritual affinity is really terrifying. It's leagues above even Julius' affinity."
Felix took the knife from his hand and made a small cut on his own fingertip.
Then, extending his hand, a blue light began to suffuse from it, soaking into the wound and closing it within a split second.
"Healing works to accelerate the natural healing of the wound in the basic sense. Of course, with more practice and power, nyou can guide the wound to close up faster and in more order. Water magic is basically the manipulation of life. Taking me as an example, the greatest healing magic practitioners can even close up mana gates, dull the pain or amplify it, reattach entire limbs and missing chunks of flesh. At those levels, it's more accelerating natural healing and more flesh moulding; though I personally don't like to refer to it that way."
"I see." Hedin scratched his chin as he looked at the healing process. His eyes momentarily flashed with light as he saw Felix's hand.
"Interesring."
"It is right!"
...
Healing was a peculiar art.
Hedin failed to understand it on the first day. The spirits didn't allow much practice too.
In the end, the rest of the day passed without anything noteworthy.
The next two days were also quite uneventful in that regard.
The third day however... something peculiar happened.
...
Raven flew over the Mathers domain, it's empty eyes looking at the sprawling forest below.
Many of raven's clones had been left in the domain, keeping watch 24/7. Emilia and Co had returned 3 days prior, when Hedin started with his Yang Magic lessons.
The raven landed on one of the tree branches, staring silently at a rabbit hopping around in the bushes. Suddenly, a feline creature popped out from the side, snapping it's jaws around the rabbit's neck.
Thud!
They fell onto the ground, struggling for a bit before going limp.
Raven turned it's head, looking deep into the forest.
The trees pressed close from all sides, branches creeping like hundreds of fingers. In between the darkness, figures were moving. Shadows blurring through the landscape like arrows shot from a bow.
Raven's eyes glowed, transforming into two miniature suns as if looked into the distance.
Whoosh!
Spreading it's wings, the raven leapt into the air to follow the figures.
Darting through the trees, it saw them.
Men wrapped in purple black cloaks from head to toe. Their hats were pointing and they had strange symbols marked into the robes.
Raven followed them along the entire way.
Eventually, after 20 minutes, they reached the entrance of a large cave.
Raven landed on a tree branch and watched as the men entered.
Waiting for a bit, raven again extended it's wings and began to fly in.
The moment it passed through the cave entrance-
Whoosh!
Shing!
Splash!
Something metallic dashed out from the void, cutting right into raven's small figure.
It's body fell down to the ground, red blood soaking the stone in crimson.
Hedin's eyes shot open as he sat upright on the bench.
Sweat poured from his forehead and his eyes narrowed.
"What was that?" His voice was quiet, carrying a silent edge. The light around him began to intensify unconsciously.
"Hedin? What's wrong?" Rem's voice broke him out of his reverie. He looked back at her and offered a slight smile.
"Nothing... nothings wrong." He shook his head.
For Miracle's sake... there's too many things going on with that place... that said, it's still better than my previous work load.

My brother just uploaded a game of thrones fanfic. It's has long chapters and a considerably more lengthy storytelling as far as writing goes, so check it out if you wish it so.
It's called 'A Crown of Thorns'.
I can't guarantee any update regularity though, so that's that.
...
Anyways, throw some stones and as always, leave your thoughts here.
