Don't play games with a girl who can play better.
Luna has never liked me being involved in violence. She doesn't like me punching other humans especially since she knows I can kill someone and get away with it. Though she carries a reputation as a savage, brutal, unforgiving, and feared there was still a part of her that watched over random strangers she deemed 'innocent'.
Innocent? What's that?. Honestly, no one is ever truly innocent. It is impossible to find a single soul without dirt, whether buried in their past or written plainly across their present.
No one is ever innocent.
Luna might worry for strangers, but the way I treat strangers—I'd never do to Luna. She is the most innocent toxic human I have ever met. She might not be able to beat up people like I can. Might not be as tall as I am. Might not like hitting people like I do. But hey, who says those are the only way you can make someone suffer. Beating them up is way beneath my Luna. It's beneath me too—but sometimes, you have to settle for less for a little peace of mind.
Reid is busy speaking with the referee. Luna is with the other two ding dongs. I don't trust them with her in the. Adrian looks like he's having too much fun. And someone tell me why the fuck Xavier has his arm around her neck. I walk over to them ignoring the bozo jumping like a drunk kangaroo. When did people see jumping as a great warm up before a match. I find it stupid.
"Get your arm off unless you want to be the one with a broken arm instead". They didn't see me coming. They were talking about something. Adrian has a mischievous grin on his face. Xavier has a smirk. Luna, looks like a tomato. Why is her face so red. What the fuck did Xavier tell her.
The only thing stopping me from asking is the referee's whistle. "Fighters, to your positions."
After entering the ring, I look back to find Xavier's arm still around Luna's neck. I swear I'll break someone's arm.
I take my eyes off them and focus on the kid in front of me. Technically he is ridiculously huge and way older than I am. He is a kid because I'll win.
The jumbo idiot doesn't even wait for the referee's call—instead, he comes for me head on. I move to the left before giving him a kick right on his stomach. He tries to throw a punch at me but I easily dodge the hit. Moving to the other side of the ring, I have a clearer view of the crowd. Including, Luna and the other two ding dongs.
Adrian is whispering something to her and Xavier still has his arm around her neck.
Didn't I tell him to take it off.
Now I pity my opponent. I am pissed the fuck off. Lucky him.
I face my opponent whose name I forgot again. I walk towards him and start pummelling him to the ground. He tries to protect his face but it's too late for him. He now has a broken nose, cheekbone and a busted lip. But I don't stop punching him. I simply take out the anger on him.
Some say I am a psychopath with anger issues, but that's only true when it comes to Rhea fucking Patel.
Lucky bastard, Reid saved his ass before I could kill him. The referee is spitting some words to my face but I don't give him a fraction of my attention. My eyes are on Luna. She is also staring at me, maintaining eye contact. Xavier already took his arm off and is looking at the man I disfigured. Adrian though—I can still feel his stupid grin.
I walk over to where Luna is and she doesn't even flinch. Something I like about Luna. She fears no one. Except me though. I still sometimes notice her fear when she's around me.
"Congrats Kade. You won. Again". Adrian. Typical.
"Why didn't you tell him to take his hands off" I ignore Adrian and speak to Luna instead.
"Just because". She levels me with the same glare.
Before I can say anything, Xavier cuts in, "Rhea, don't forget to fulfill your part of the deal". Then he walks away.
What the fuck. She made a deal with him.
What kind of deal. If Xavier and I weren't friends, I would've broken all his bones.
I grab Rhea's arm and drag her outside, ignoring the eyes ogling at us. I don't stop till we're outside.
"What deal did you make with Xavier". She looks at me, anger written on her face. Why is she angry. I should be the angry one.
"Why are you beating up random people?" She retorts.
"Don't answer a question with a fucking question Rhea" I step closer to her, our faces a mere inch away. One more step and I'll be kissing her forehead.
Surprisingly, she takes a step backwards. She takes a step away from me.
"We had a bet. Xavier said you'd win. I said you'd back out. He said if you win, I have to give you a kiss. If you back out, he'll kiss rock and fuck a tree".
Woah. For once, Xavier isn't totally useless.
At least Rhea didn't bet on me losing. If she did, I would've just killed the fucker instead of mutilating his face.
"And?"
"And what Kaden. I hate you being involved in things like this. You know I hate you being involved in things like this. What if your opponent was stronger than you huh. What if he had taken you out with just one punch?" She pushes me.
"What if you were the receiving end of those blows huh, What if he is from a family of officers or lawyers?" Another push.
"What the fuck would you have done Kaden" before her hands touch me to push me again, I grab hold of them with one hand and wait for her to look up at me. She's so tiny.
When she doesn't, I place my fingers under her chin and force her to look at me. "You were worried about me."
Luna was just worried the fucker would've beaten me up instead. I love my face too much to allow it get punched. Luna was worried about me. Me. Not the idiot i punched repeatedly, not Reid, not the other two ding dongs. Me. And fuck me for feeling extra giddy inside. She looks at me with so much frustration because I have a smirk on my face. I can bet the whole world she wants to slap it off my face.
"Luna listen, I like punching people. Though it doesn't help me purge enough but it still feels, relaxing. If you want me to, I'll stop engaging in illegal fights like this. If someone pisses me off outside though, I'll definitely kill the fucker. Also, I'll join MMA, then the fights will be legal."
I am supposed to ask her if she's fine with it but I know she'll say no. I was joking about the MMA though. That shit sounds like something Adrian would be interested in.
Luna sighs in defeat. "Where are we going to next?"
I hope she can see the crease on my forehead. Isn't she forgetting something. She made a bet with a reaper. She has to fulfill her side of the deal since she lost. I don't want to push her though. I haven't forced Rhea to do anything she doesn't want to do. But fuck, my patience is becoming almost invisible. Today, in the school's bathroom, she was naked. Completely naked. I had to gather so much self control. If not I would've bent her over and fucked her multiple times.
"Let's play basketball. You, the boys and I against random jobless people." Her frustration immediately disappears. Luna loves basketball. She is also pretty good at it. I might have helped her a bit but most of it was all Rhea Patel. When she's interested in something, she takes her time to learn about it.
Now, I can tell she doesn't give two flying fucks about the ransom people. She wants to kick their asses and make them worship her after winning. Yes, Luna won't lose. She never does—unless I am her opponent. I always win.
When we reach the court, all attention falls on Luna and I. Luna has her mask on. Something about not wanting the attention. This amount of attention is fair enough for her. To be fair, I also don't want people staring at my Luna as if they want to gobble her up.
The clothes Luna has on is comfortable enough for Rhea to wear to play. I, on the other hand, prefer being shirtless. I face Rhea and help her adjust my shirt on her. The hands may be a little too long for her which will disturb her during the game.
"Hey, you're bringing a minor to play for you. The reapers sure are losing their touch." I hear the other players behind me laugh. They were trying to make the reapers look weak and Rhea too. Technically Rhea looks wonderfully small compared to the other players but she is more than capable of kicking their asses.
"Stop worrying about the reapers—worry about your breath instead. You're a few feet away from me and the stench of your breath is suffocating." Rhea will never miss an opportunity to make someone feel like shit. I wanted to say my mind to the idiot but she beat me to it.
"Your breath is like that of a rottening skunk." She walks towards the others, not sparing the idiot a glance. It's fun when the silent ones become toxic too.
The idiot makes a move towards Rhea but I step in front of him before he has the chance to reach her. "I'd advice you stay away from her unless you need your limbs amputated."
Rhea wastes no time before stealing the ball from the other team's idiots. She's in front. Of course she'd take the fucking lead. I am not giving it to her. She is taking it. Just like I taught her. Rhea hates it when her work is being done for her. Rhea isn't weak. I can tell. Rhea might be scared of me but she doesn't cower away like everyone else. Reid, Adrian and Xavier sometimes run away from me especially when I lose my temper.
Rhea doesn't.
She isn't scared of the police, she is scared of dying, she isn't scared of snakes, she isn't scared of failing. She does have things she's bothered about, but the only thing she's scared of is me. I've seen it before.
"18 points to the reapers." The referee announces.
In a few minutes we're already at 18 points. Rhea high fives Adrian and Xavier. I look to my left to find Reid staring at me. He motions to the person standing behind Rhea. The idiot that thought he had the right to call her a minor. He's glaring at Rhea. He'll probably want to take Rhea out first. Her leg isn't fully healed. She can still run, even though I can see her holding in the pain with so much effort. She's enjoying this, that's why she's not bothered about her leg—but I am.
The game starts again and this time, they rush straight for Rhea. Luckily, I am faster than they are. Before I reach Rhea, I watch her move to the right, avoiding the idiot darting towards her. She twist and ducks as he tries to grab her, making a run for the basket. I am the closest to it though, but I know she'll want to take the shot. It's funny how she's tiny and can still make a clean dunk.
The other team is still at zero points and we have 54. Thanks to Rhea. All I had to do was step aside. Though at some point, she pushed me aside—only because I wouldn't let her move, and maybe I got a little touchy.
I can see she's getting a little tired. She has been doing all the work, we have been assisting her. Time to take over. Luckily she doesn't act stubborn and throws the ball to me instead. The ball is customised. It says Reapers.
We won. 94-0. The Reapers didn't even give the idiot a single win. Should we have? I don't think so.
"Hey, skunk breath, who's the minor now." I put my arm on Reid's shoulder and we all watch Rhea mock the idiots. "Bevakoof."
I chuckle because, I know the meaning of what she said. She told me the meaning after insulting me with it.
"Show some fucking respect you..."
Before the fucker is allowed to finish his statement, she throws the ball and it hits his nose so hard it bleeds. She takes a step towards them and they take a step backwards.
The skunk breath leader loses his balance and falls. He kneels in front of Rhea, looking so pathetic. That's right, fucking worship her.
She doesn't even spare him a glance—he walks towards me instead. She finally reaches me and says, "thank you".
She puts her hands on my shoulders and pulls me down. What does she want to whisper to me?
No. She is pulling me lower to kiss me. For the first time.
Before I know it, our lips meet. It takes five seconds before I take over the kiss. I deepen the kiss and devour her mouth. Holy fuck, she tastes like my sweetest damnation and I willingly want to fucking drown in it and stay just there with her and her only.
