Anita felt relieved that at last her two most cherished people had made up. From the look of things, this vacation was finally going to be great. The tension that had followed them earlier seemed to have faded, replaced by something lighter, something hopeful. It made her heart settle in a way she didn't even realize she needed.
Everyone retired to their rooms that night. Anita and Agatha shared a room, as usual.
Anita fell asleep almost immediately, her body relaxed after the long day. But Agatha couldn't say the same. For some reason, sleep refused to come. She kept feeling waves of anxiety rushing through her, one after the other, like something unseen was pressing against her chest.
She turned to the left. Then to the right. She adjusted her pillow, closed her eyes, opened them again. Nothing worked.
She didn't want to wake Anita, so she stayed quiet, trying to control her breathing. But the feeling wouldn't leave.
After a while, she decided to get some fresh air.
