This was a scene so overwhelming that words could hardly describe it.
Compared to it, the impact of a falling meteor or crashing asteroid seemed utterly insignificant.
Noel and Edolas Noel, shrouded in golden and black radiance, plummeted from a height of 100,000 miles in mere seconds.
The moment they struck the ground, the sheer force of impact bypassed the surface entirely, piercing straight down for nearly a hundred meters.
The shockwave erupted outward from their point of collision, shattering the earth in all directions.
Cracks and fissures, vast and immeasurable, tore through the land, forming bottomless chasms.
The very ground itself was ripped apart, and a seismic force equivalent to a magnitude-ten earthquake radiated outward from the epicenter, devastating everything in its wake.
"Ugh… I really overdid it this time."
A hundred meters underground, Noel—his body covered in wounds, his divine state dispelled—suddenly coughed up a mouthful of blood.
The accumulated injuries from his battle with Edolas Noel, the aftereffects of his divine transformation, and the impact of free-falling from 100,000 miles all struck him at once, leaving him barely able to stand.
"…Better than expected, I suppose. At least I didn't pass out."
Noel wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth, a bitter smile forming on his lips, before shifting his gaze toward Edolas Noel, who lay not far from him.
Compared to Noel, Edolas Noel injuries were far more severe.
After all, not only had he taken the full brunt of Noel's [Lance of Longinus] head-on, but he had also borne the impact of the 100,000-miles free fall.
If not for the protective power of the Judgment Sword, he wouldn't just be gravely injured—he'd be having tea with God in heaven by now.
Even a dragon would perish if thrown from such a height without resistance, let alone a mere human like Edolas Noel.
"Twenty-one broken bones, forty-three torn muscles… You're lucky you're still conscious."
Noel shifted his body, moving to sit beside Edolas Noel, speaking in a teasing tone.
With his keen eyesight, he could clearly see just how dire Edolas Noel condition was.
"Shut up, you bastard."
Edolas Noel gritted his teeth, beads of sweat trickling down his forehead.
Even the slightest movement sent searing pain ripping through his entire body.
Though he had avoided death, with injuries of this extent, he would optimistically need at least three to four months of bed rest in a hospital.
His face was pale, yet his mind remained sharp as ever.
"A loss is a loss. How do you plan to deal with me?"
"Deal with you?" Noel didn't answer immediately.
Instead, he suddenly changed the subject.
"You said it before, didn't you? That you fight… simply for the sake of fighting?"
"So what?"
"Heh... You know," Noel chuckled softly, pausing for a few seconds before speaking again, his voice carrying an inexplicable emotion.
"Killing is never a reason to grow stronger. If someone seeks to prove themselves solely by defeating others, then they've already lost from the very beginning."
Edolas Noel lips curled into a disdainful smile. "What kind of nonsense is that? Victory and defeat are determined purely by strength. There's no way such vague, meaningless things could decide the outcome."
"Haven't we already proven it? You lost to me, didn't you?"
"..."
Edolas Noel fell silent, merely letting out a cold snort without responding.
Noel smiled indifferently.
He had already expected this reaction from Edolas Noel.
Without minding it, he continued in a gentle tone,
"Humans don't fight for the sake of battle, nor do they live for it. It's because they have something important to protect that they choose to fight. We all have something we want to protect—it could be friends, lovers, family… or even beliefs, pride, and dignity. No matter what it is, it's because of these things that we become stronger, that we fight. And I believe… you're no exception."
"Something to protect…?"
Edolas Noel gaze flickered slightly, as if recalling something.
Then, he let out a bitter and icy smile.
"You and your lofty ideals… You don't understand me at all. You may have the same face as me, Eathland's version of me, but you will never truly understand me."
"Yes, I don't understand," Noel nodded without hesitation, admitting Edolas Noel words.
"And I have no intention of understanding. In this world, everyone is different. Each person carries their own pain and scars. Trying to understand them all—that is the duty of a savior.
But I have always believed that no matter who it is, deep in their heart, they have something they hold onto. If they don't, then even if they are alive, they are already dead.
In your eyes, I can see that unyielding light. I don't know what kind of past or pain you have endured, but I do know that deep within you, your pride still remains."
"Why… can you see it?" Edolas Noel gazed quietly into Noel's eyes.
Noel chuckled, "Because we are both Noel, aren't we?"
Edolas Noel was stunned.
Suddenly, Noel's body emitted a dazzling light.
He paused for a moment, looking at his glowing hand, before a knowing smile appeared on his face. "That guy, Mystogan, finally succeeded in [ Reverse Anima ], huh? Looks like I'm about to leave Edolas.
Edolas me, do you have any parting words for me?"
"Hmph, the sooner you get lost, the better," Edolas Noel said coldly.
"You really don't hold back, huh?" Noel shook his head with a wry smile, but he wasn't angry.
He could tell that Edolas Noel was just being stubborn—there was no real hostility in his words.
After a brief silence, Edolas Noel struggled to move his fingers and pointed toward the Judgment Sword lying nearby.
He looked at Noel and said, "Hey, you from Earthland—take this sword with you."
"Huh?" Noel was taken aback, not understanding Edolas Noel words. "Why?"
"Ugh, you're so annoying. Just take it already," Edolas Noel grumbled impatiently.
"Magic is disappearing from this world. The energy in that sword doesn't come from nowhere—it converts magic into power. Without magic, the Black Blade will be useless here.
Might as well let you have it. Listen up—once you're back in Earthland, don't you dare embarrass me. If you do, I swear I'll find a way to cross over and cut you down myself. Got it?"
Edolas Noel tone was full of disdain.
After hesitating for a few seconds, Noel finally reached out and grasped the hilt of the Judgment Sword. "I'll accept this gift. Though this sword doesn't really align with my attributes... still, thanks."
Edolas Noel mouth twitched twice before he couldn't help but roll his eyes at Noel, who was clearly taking advantage while acting modest.
Then, he simply turned his head away, refusing to look at him anymore.
"Hey, are you really okay just lying here? Won't they have trouble finding you?"
"It's fine. I have a signal flare. None of your business."
Noel chuckled softly and said no more.
His body, pulled by the Reverse Anima, began to ascend toward the sky.
In his vision, Edolas Noel grew smaller and smaller until he finally became just a black dot in the distance.
(Goodbye. I believe that one day, you'll find something you truly want to protect... my Edolas self.)
Noel watched as a signal flare bloomed in the sky, then slowly closed his eyes, silently voicing his farewell in his heart.
Casually securing the Black Blade to his waist, his tattered clothing conveniently covered it.
He had no particular intention of hiding the sword, but... matters concerning the Gods wouldn't do the Fairy Tail members any good to know.
