Okay, brief story time about how this series came to be.
I was in elementary or high school when this fantasy first came to mind, from daydreaming in class and even before sleep. At some point I even made a map of the Empire. It looked like an enhanced magnification of a cell organism.
That map was drawn on three pieces of bond paper, though it is no longer with us, unfortunately.
I had forgotten about this story for quite some time. But eventually I found the motivation after I have left work, being bored, to make something out of that map and connect it to the story I had been carrying around in my head. You could say that, that map represented the old Arkanus Empire, although it had no name back then. I made that up along the way.
As for how August Finn came to be, so August (Month) and Finn, as in "end," lol, I had just quit my first job during the month of August around 2024, so it was still fresh in my mind. It was not until February 13th, or somewhere around that date, that I wrote the first draft of the series. I wanted to share my story, well, I wanted to build the story around that map, and then I put it up on WebNovel so others could enjoy it too.
And that is how *The Empire of the Wretched Son* came to be.
Recently I have been thinking of making a map once more. I have recently seen some shorts on YouTube about fantasy world map making. Though that would be quite a task, maybe I will focus near the central subcontinent? I also think a map is due. It could outline more clearly how the characters moved throughout the world. As to where I should share it, I still do not know. I'll keep you people posted if I ever wanted to go through with it.
