Chapter 6 Choices
Chapter 6 Choice
The main structure of the Mind Palace is a lakeside library.
The lake is calm and still, its waters a pure, azure blue, reflecting the library.
The library's reflection beneath the lake holds all the true memories, including his past life, the existence of the pay-to-win gacha system, and traces of the "Occlumency" technique itself.
What remains in the library itself are the original owner's past life experiences and Link's behavior and thought processes after his soul transmigrates, fitting the persona of a blacksmith's son on a remote island.
Anything that could reveal Link's transmigrator identity is hidden in the lake's reflection.
After completing the Mind Palace, Link discovered an additional benefit: he gained photographic memory.
Well… to be precise, as long as Link promptly organizes all his experiences each day, categorizing and storing them in the library, he can remember every scene he sees, every sound he hears, every texture he touches, and every smell he smells.
Furthermore, because Link has mastered the "Occlumency" technique to its highest level, he doesn't need to worry about storing too many memories overloading his brain.
In short, the "Brain Occupation" technique is amazing; anyone who uses it knows!
...
Five days passed.
The White Sail arrived at the main continent and docked at a pier in the port of Manham in the Tudor region on the west coast.
Link finally saw the wizard Paro again.
However, it was only a fleeting glance; he saw Paro and several other wizards disembark from the ship earlier and board a small flying vehicle docked at the port, heading off somewhere unknown.
Yes, a flying vehicle, a very beautiful flying vehicle, far more beautiful than any science fiction fighter jet concept images Link had seen online in his previous life.
Its smooth lines, exquisite shape, and elegant posture captivated Link at first glance.
He exclaimed that his eyes had been opened, and his possessiveness instantly surged.
Link felt like a Shaanxi version of himself had taken up residence in his heart, frantically shouting, "Ugh, ugh, it's ugh!"
"What are you looking at?"
Jimny, with his uneven eyes, asked curiously when he saw Link lost in thought.
As the White Sail was about to enter the harbor, the five people from the Quetzal Islands gathered together on the deck.
"Nothing."
Link shook his head and looked away; the flying vehicle had long since disappeared.
"I just saw the Wizard of Paro."
Christina, who had a very low profile, said quietly at this moment.
"Me too."
Chris and Molly echoed at the same time.
A look of surprise flashed across Jimny's face. He had been attracted by a woman with an extremely attractive figure.
Seeing Link lost in thought, he assumed that Link was also looking at the woman and wanted to test Link's taste.
"Ah!"
Jimny opened his mouth slightly awkwardly, then quickly changed the subject, "Let's walk forward, there are too many people, we need to walk faster to get off the ship sooner."
There were indeed quite a lot of people.
During his five days at sea, Link had been a recluse, unaware of how many new recruits the White Sails carried.
Only now did he realize that the White Sails carried at least 2,000 people.
From the entire Quetzal Islands and eight noble territories of varying sizes, only five qualified recruits had been selected.
Even if the proportions varied across islands, the difference wouldn't be too significant.
Link roughly calculated that there were at least four hundred islands in the Storm Sea.
This was a rough estimate assuming the area and population of the Quetzal Islands as an average unit, and the resulting number should be fairly reliable.
However, this only corresponds to the number of islands in the Storm Sea along the west coast of the main continent; there are also islands in the Endless Sea along the east coast, the Northern Ocean in the north, and the Southern Ocean in the south.
This glimpse reveals the vastness of the wizarding world, far exceeding the imagination of most.
"Everyone's seen the brochure. Do any of you have a wizarding organization you'd like to join?"
Moving slowly through the crowded throng, Link asked casually, having nothing better to do.
"I'm planning to go to the Metal and Flame Trading Company as a wizarding apprentice specializing in mechanical manufacturing,"
Jimny replied first.
He had a high affinity for both metal and fire elements, making it a suitable fit.
However, a trading company wasn't like an academy; while the short-term economic gains would be better, the long-term potential for personal development would be lower.
It was a trade-off.
"We're planning to go to Shadow City,"
Chris added. The siblings had a rarer affinity for shadow elements.
The "Overview of Wizarding Organizations in the Tudor Region of the West Coast" listed only three suitable places for newcomers with shadow element affinity: Shadow City, the Night Veil Society, and Darkness University.
The Night Veil Society had very high entry requirements, only accepting newcomers with a aptitude of at least fourth-class lower.
Chris and Christina's wizarding aptitude was only third-class upper, not meeting the Night Veil Society's standard.
Darkness University had new recruits who might require cooperation with professors' human experimentation.
For safety reasons, Darkness University was ruled out by Chris and his sister.
Shadow City became the best, and only, suitable place.
"And you, Molly?"
Link turned to the wealthy Molly Kidman.
Molly wrinkled her nose, slightly conflicted. She had an affinity for all three elements, giving her a wide range of choices.
But it was precisely because of these many choices that the decision was harder to make.
After a while, Molly's eyes lit up. She suddenly remembered that Link had a high affinity for water and wood elements, overlapping with two of her three elemental affinities.
Perhaps Link's choice could serve as a reference?
Molly then asked, "Where are you going, Link?"
"Rivosos Biological and Medical Academy."
There was no point in hiding it, so Link simply stated his decision.
Jasmine continued, "Could you tell me why?"
"I don't like fighting and killing. I think tending to flowers and plants, raising animals, and providing medical treatment suits my personality perfectly,"
Link shrugged, revealing his true thoughts.
"Ah, this…"
Jasmine hadn't expected Link's answer.
However, after careful consideration, she found Link's idea quite reasonable.
Coming from a noble family, Jasmine understood the wizarding world better than ordinary people; she knew that conflicts between individual wizards and between wizarding organizations were common.
But fighting and killing were too dangerous; being a logistics or medical worker suited her perfectly.
Jasmine's lips curled into a smile, her mood brightening. "I'm also planning to go to the Rivosos Biological and Medical Academy."
Link raised an eyebrow, somewhat surprised by Jasmine's decision, but not unexpected.
With her affinity for the water, wood, and earth elements, Jasmine was actually the most suitable candidate for the Rivosos Biological and Medical Academy, even more so than Link himself.
He just hadn't realized that Jasmine's decision was subtly influenced by his earlier words.
Fortunately, Link wasn't a complete naive young man and didn't have the illusion that "she might like me."
