Asher's POV
I stood paralyzed, trying to process the doctor's casual mention of Karen's 'son'.
What son? We'd never had any luck conceiving during our entire marriage.
Yet, as shocking as that revelation was, it was nothing compared to the sickening horror coursing through my veins as I took in the rest of this God-forsaken hellhole.
The chamber was lined with towering glass containment tanks, each filled with greenish liquid and human beings. People of all ages were submerged inside, from withered elders to tiny infants. Most had lost every trace of humanity in their features.
On the glass to my left, a man's right leg had painfully sprouted a second, useless baby-sized limb around his knee joint, while three mismatched arms dangled uselessly from his torso. To my right, another test subject's head had swollen so monstrously it barely fit inside the tank. His eyes were crooked, uneven, and utterly inhuman, like something from a horror movie.
