Chapter 317 - Chapter 314: Secret Weapon

Loki arrived at Laboratory No. 2. Although he had joined the organization for a while now, he still had no access to many of the important areas within the base.

Today, however, was a rare opportunity.

[God of Mischief—Loki, Level 2 Clearance!]

The lab's artificial intelligence announced in a mechanical tone as the tightly sealed door slowly opened.

"Only Level 2?" Loki muttered in slight dissatisfaction, but he had no choice but to climb the ranks step by step.

He stepped inside.

The lab was wide and brightly lit, and large green culture tanks—each nearly the height of a full-grown man—were lined up neatly. The entire area was densely packed with them. There were at least several thousand, and the sheer scale of the scene was striking.

"What are these things?" Loki moved in for a closer look.

BANG!

A pale, bloodless hand suddenly slapped hard against the glass. Then, a face contorted in pain floated up from the green culture fluid inside.

Just as Loki was about to speak—

"Professor X!" he gasped. But something was off. This version of Professor X had a red gemstone embedded in his forehead, just like Mister Sinister.

"How about it? My creation," came a smooth yet eerily sinister voice behind him.

Pale-faced Mister Sinister had somehow appeared beside Loki. He didn't seem surprised to see him here. Perhaps he had been, initially, but Loki remained calm and began to assess the copy of Professor X.

Weak...

The life force was feeble, barely enough for the clone to survive four or five more years.

Its abilities were likely similar to the original Professor X, but the power level was undoubtedly much lower.

If this clone had been exactly the same as the original, Mister Sinister wouldn't have bothered joining any organization. He would've acted alone.

Inside the other culture tanks were clones of various other mutants.

Loki shook his head. "I'm disappointed. The leader sent me to look at this?"

These things weren't enough to kill the Demon King. Heck, they weren't even enough to defeat him.

Hearing this, Mister Sinister smiled slightly. "These are just expendables. Follow me."

He led Loki deeper into the lab.

As they walked, Loki saw clones of many powerful mutants in the culture tanks: Magneto, Cyclops, Wolverine, Storm…

"All these powerful mutants, yet..." Loki narrowed his eyes. "Mister Sinister, why are there no clones of Phoenix, Venom, Pamela, Polaris, or Wanda?"

With each name he uttered, Mister Sinister's face darkened a shade. Still, without turning back, he responded, "Because they're always by the Demon King's side. I haven't had the chance to obtain their genetic samples."

"If we had their clones, killing them in front of the Demon King would at least let him taste the pain of losing his loved ones," he added.

Loki's lips curled into a cruel grin as he regretfully shook his head. Suddenly, he thought of something and asked, "If I could get their genetic samples, could you—"

"No." Mister Sinister cut him off immediately. "Creating clones isn't as simple as you think. Resources are limited."

In truth, he had managed to get samples of Phoenix and Polaris, but he had destroyed them.

The real reason he joined this organization was never to help the so-called leader kill the Demon King. His true goal was to obtain the Demon King's genetic material—and to use the organization's vast resources and advanced technology.

Even if he failed, he would only lose a body. But if he ever dared clone the women closest to the Demon King, it would mean war—one that would never end.

"That's a real shame," Loki said, his eyes full of disappointment.

Mister Sinister, meanwhile, was now completely convinced Loki was genuine.

Finally, they reached the innermost room. Inside were four particularly striking culture tanks, each containing a person in deep sleep—three men and one woman.

"This is your secret weapon?" Loki frowned. Aside from Captain Marvel, the others looked completely ordinary.

"Don't underestimate them," Mister Sinister said proudly. "Without the Demon King, any one of them could destroy the entire Demon Organization."

He had gone through immense effort to collect these specimens.

"So when do we act? I can't wait to see Earth destroyed," Loki said, eyes flashing with a maniacal gleam. Under the cold lab lighting, his handsome features appeared eerily twisted.

"Soon. We must wait for the right moment."

"What moment?"

"The Celestial Convergence. Only then can we launch an attack on the entire Earth."

At the manor.

Qino sat shirtless on a chair on the balcony, reading the intelligence report that had just arrived.

"Celestial Convergence? Only three days left..." he murmured.

Suddenly, a pair of arms—white as jade—wrapped gently around his neck from behind. A soft body pressed tightly against his back.

"So, when exactly did you recruit Loki to infiltrate the enemy?" Venom asked curiously.

"Not long after Tony's wedding," Qino replied, tilting his head back to rest against the world's best pillow as he drifted into memory.

One late night, just as he was planning to spend some private time with Pamela, someone knocked on his door.

He opened it to find Loki in a sharp suit.

"Greetings, Your Majesty the God-King. I've come specifically to apologize for the damage I caused to your territory earlier," Loki said, bowing slightly. His voice was filled with sincerity, but his eyes gleamed with mischief.

"You're just a projection, aren't you? Doesn't look like a man here to apologize," Qino said, seeing through it immediately.

"You misunderstand. My real body is under surveillance—that's why I sent a projection."

"Surveillance? Then speak. What do you want?"

Qino leaned against the doorframe, showing no intention of inviting him in.

"There's an organization that invited me to join a plan to kill the Demon King. So I came to report it."

Loki wasn't just passing along a tip—he also wanted compensation.

"Do you know who's in this organization?" Qino asked.

"I'm still investigating. The one who contacted me calls himself Mister Sinister."

Loki shared everything he knew, making his sincerity clear.

"Mister Sinister?" Qino was surprised. He'd thought that man didn't exist in this world. So he'd just been hiding.

"It seems Your Majesty knows of him," Loki said. "I can act as your scout. But… my power might not be enough."

He bowed his head.

Qino stared at him deeply, then pulled out an energy orb glowing with mysterious light—residual power from Asgard, left over from what the World Tree had drained.

Loki looked up, stunned. He sensed his original divine power inside the orb.

Qino extracted Loki's essence from the orb, condensed it into a smaller sphere, and tossed both the orb and a demon contract to him.

Loki caught them. If he hadn't been a projection, he would've absorbed them on the spot.

"I still have four more of these essence spheres," Qino said. "How many you get depends on your performance. If you impress me enough, I might even let you govern Asgard. At that point, Thor would be working under you."

With that, Qino closed the door.

Loki stared at the energy orb and contract in his hands for a long time before a wide, exaggerated grin stretched across his face.

Then he began to laugh silently, maniacally.

Asgard. Essence energy. Thor as his subordinate.

"How generous you are, my God-King," Loki whispered.

Thanks to Mister Sinister, he had just been handed the deal of a lifetime.

He gave a slight bow toward the manor and then disappeared without a trace.
