Chapter 2 - Chapter 1: Mission Success

Got it. This time I'll fix exactly what you said:

❌ No excessive one-line breaks

❌ No

In the year 2026, inside a highly secured aerospace research facility in India, a tense silence filled the control room. Engineers, scientists, and military observers stood still, their eyes fixed on the massive digital display.

"Chief, all systems are ready. AMCA Phase-3 integration is stable," Ram reported, trying to control the excitement in his voice.

At the centre of the room sat Arjun Dev, a man whose name had already become legendary within India's scientific community. Unlike others, he didn't react immediately. His gaze remained locked on the data flowing across the screen, analyzing every parameter with extreme focus.

Arjun was not an ordinary scientist. Before leading this project, he had played a crucial role in advanced helicopter systems and contributed significantly to multiple aerospace programs. What truly set him apart, however, was his obsession with knowledge. In his free time, he had studied the evolution of technology from the steam age to modern-day jet systems, building a deep understanding of how civilizations advanced through engineering.

Beside him stood Colonel Raghav, dressed in military uniform, observing everything with sharp eyes. He leaned slightly forward and asked, "Can we proceed with the live activation?"

Arjun remained silent for a few seconds before giving a firm nod. "Begin the sequence."

A countdown started, and the entire room seemed to hold its breath. The system transitioned from simulation to real-time execution as streams of data began updating rapidly. Every second carried immense weight. Years of effort, limited resources, and national expectations were all riding on this moment.

As the process continued, tension grew heavier. No one dared to speak unnecessarily. Even the slightest fluctuation could mean failure, and failure would push the entire program back by years.

"Chief… all parameters are within expected range. System stability confirmed," Ram finally said, his voice trembling slightly.

Arjun slowly stood up, carefully observing the final output one last time before allowing himself a small smile. "It's successful."

The room instantly erupted into cheers. Exhaustion, pressure, and anxiety disappeared in a wave of relief. Some laughed, some wiped tears, while others simply sat down, unable to process what they had just witnessed.

Arjun folded his hands and bowed slightly.

"This success belongs to everyone here. We didn't just complete a test, we proved what we are capable of."

The celebration began soon after. Laughter echoed through the hall as months of stress finally released.

Far away, inside Pakistan's Prime Minister's Secretariat, the mood was completely different.

Prime Minister Rahman sat with a dark expression as he read the intelligence report placed before him. The contents made his grip tighten slightly. He immediately called for his intelligence chief.

Within moments, Director Zaheer entered the room and accepted the file. As he read through it, his expression shifted from anger to something more complex. There was irritation, but also undeniable recognition of the achievement described in the report.

"What is your assessment?" Rahman asked coldly.

Zaheer straightened himself before replying, "This development will significantly increase their air superiority in the coming years. If we allow them to continue, the gap will become impossible to close."

Rahman's eyes narrowed. "Then what do you suggest?"

After a brief pause, Zaheer responded carefully, "We activate our deep-cover asset. Extract all available data related to the project… and eliminate the lead scientist."

Rahman immediately rejected the idea with a sharp tone. "That's reckless. You're talking about provoking a nation that is already far stronger than before."

Zaheer did not back down. "If we obtain even partial data, it can accelerate our missile programs. The scientist himself is a critical asset. Removing him will delay their progress significantly."

Rahman leaned back, thinking deeply. The risk was high, but so were the potential gains. After a moment, he spoke again, this time more controlled. "Direct action is too dangerous. But if this operation is carried out indirectly, the situation changes."

Zaheer understood instantly. "You mean involving a third party."

Rahman gave a slight nod. "Contact the Americans. If they are interested, we proceed together."

Zaheer acknowledged the order and left the room, while Rahman looked back at the report with a faint, calculating expression.

Meanwhile, in India, the celebration had come to an end.

Arjun, heavily intoxicated after hours of celebration, sat in the passenger seat of a car moving through the quiet city roads. The night lights passed by in a blur as he leaned back, completely unaware of his surroundings.

Driving the car was Colonel Raghav. His expression was calm, but his eyes occasionally shifted toward his phone, which had just received a message.

He glanced at it briefly. The instructions were clear.

For a moment, hesitation appeared on his face as he looked at Arjun. Years of trust, cooperation, and shared work flashed through his mind. This was not just a colleague sitting beside him. This was a man who had changed the direction of their nation's future.

Raghav tightened his grip on the steering wheel before his expression hardened. He made his decision.

Reaching toward his wrist, he activated a hidden mechanism and retrieved a small vial. Timing his movement carefully, he forced the liquid into Arjun's mouth.

Arjun immediately reacted, his consciousness returning for a brief moment. Something felt wrong. His body refused to respond as panic set in. He tried to move, to speak, but nothing worked.

His eyes met Raghav's.

There was no emotion in them.

Only cold determination.

In those final seconds, Arjun understood everything. His thoughts drifted not toward his achievements, but toward the people he had left behind.

Then everything went dark.

The next morning, news channels across the country exploded with breaking reports.

India's leading aerospace scientist had been assassinated. The suspect, a long-standing military officer, was revealed to be an undercover agent. Critical data related to advanced aircraft systems had also been stolen.

Shock quickly turned into anger as the nation reacted. Investigations began immediately, but the damage had already been done.

Behind the scenes, forces from multiple countries had already started moving.

A silent war had begun.
