And yet, tonight, just like the last time, Miko is seated with me on the same bench with chicken between us, water and heads tilted towards the sky as we watch the sky, and enjoy a hearty bite of chicken.
It's perfect.
Knowing Miko, he is beating himself for not doing something grand.
"It was. You know, even being next to you is enough for me. When you brought me here, where I could see the stars again and enjoy the calmness, like a reprieve from all that noise and buzz… It's all I ever needed then. I was homesick, missing the quiet and needing a moment to just … breathe."
I sigh, closing my eyes as the cool breeze caresses my face, and I can't help but smile contentedly.
"Just like tonight," I admit softly. "Miko, you always bring me peace and this feeling of groundedness I have always missed. You anchor me, make me perceive aliveness, me being alive, and it's just …" my eyes well up as I exhale softly.
