MIKO
I have never had a memorable birthday.
Growing up, it was just like any other day, save for the gifts that would be set up in my room, so many of them that I wouldn't have space to even walk. Then my grandparents adding more money to my account.
My mother didn't want a kid's birthday party if it wouldn't be a gala or a high dinner that she would host and turn into one of those parties she liked throwing. It wouldn't be about me anyway, so I never asked for them.
For the longest time, I thought that's how it was, with everyone. Until I saw Kai's birthdays, my other friends' birthdays were all planned and celebrated by their loved ones and families. It was not like mine, cold, alone, and almost sterile. Devoid of any love, any colour.
I felt something every time this day reached because it was just a reminder that I didn't have someone who cared enough.
