Xia Weiwei read Jiang Tao's message twice.
One of her mother's missing notebooks might still exist.
Her first impulse was to get out of bed, dress, and demand an immediate meeting. However, she stopped herself before moving.
In the past, she would have acted alone.
She would have convinced herself that there was no need to disturb anyone before confirming the information. That habit had already caused tension between her and Mo Shian when she first hired Jiang Tao.
She would not repeat it.
"Who sent the message?"
Mo Shian's sleepy voice came from beside her.
Weiwei looked down and discovered that his eyes were already open.
"I thought you were asleep."
"I was."
His arm tightened around her waist, drawing her back against his chest.
"You moved."
"My phone vibrated."
"And you became tense."
Weiwei handed him the phone without trying to hide the message.
"It's from Jiang Tao."
The last traces of sleep disappeared from Mo Shian's eyes.
