Xia Weiwei calmly examined everything on the desk.
At first glance, nothing appeared out of place. Her pencils were arranged according to size, the drawer was closed, and the sketchbook she had deliberately left behind was exactly where she remembered placing it.
However, whoever had searched the desk had made one small mistake.
Before leaving the classroom the previous evening, Weiwei had placed a strand of her hair between two pages of the sketchbook. It was an old and simple method, but it was enough to tell her whether someone had opened it.
That strand of hair was now lying on the desk.

Weiwei picked up the sketchbook and turned to the design she had prepared as bait. It was an elaborate phoenix necklace that resembled the style of the collection her mother had left unfinished.
