Weiwei watched the numbers above the elevator doors descend.
She had known he would be unhappy.
The worst part was that she could not claim he was overreacting. The investigation involved a suspected murder, the Xia family, missing evidence, and possibly her own father.
She should have told him before meeting Jiang Tao.
When the elevator reached the ground floor, Weiwei entered the public lobby and sat in a quiet corner.
One of her bodyguards stood near the entrance. The other remained outside.

Weiwei looked toward the guard.
He did not appear to be watching her conversation, but he had clearly reported that she entered an investigation agency.
Fifteen minutes later, a black Maybach stopped outside.
Mo Shian entered the building with Joel behind him.
His expression was cold enough to make the receptionist straighten nervously.
When he saw Weiwei, some of the coldness disappeared.
He walked toward her.
