The dinner with Mayor Yen was arranged at a private residence instead of a restaurant.
The property stood near the government district and was officially registered as a municipal guesthouse. It was occasionally used to accommodate visiting officials, but that evening, the building appeared empty.
Mo Shian and Xia Weiwei arrived shortly before seven.
Uncle Fu drove through the security gate after the guards verified their invitation. Two vehicles carrying Mo Shian's security team remained outside the main compound.
As they got out of the car, Weiwei noticed that the guesthouse had no visible staff except for several trusted guards.
