Eric: What do you mean you haven't seen my son? He's the only kid in the village!
Guard: I don't know what to tell you, he hasn't been seen around here... This is the Jail, actually, why would he even be here in the first place? Didn't he run away in the forest?
Eric: I checked the Forest and he's not out there, so he must be in the village somewhere!
Guard: Have you tried going home and seeing if he returned there?
Eric paused for a moment.
Eric: You're a GENIUS!
Eric startd running down the hall in the other direction, seemingly heading home.
Guard: No... I'm not a Genius, checking your home should have been your first thought after not finding him in the forest.
The guard sighed and started heading the opposite direction in the hall, Straight to where Cashew was hiding.
Cashew pressed himself against the wall as hard as he could, hoping to not be seen, the Guard walked past the hallway Cashew was in, Not noticing or even looking down the Hallway, Cashew was unnoticed.
Cashew Waited for the guard to disappear around a corner before continuing on his escape. "I wonder if this is practice? Me practicing breaking out of jail." Cashew found the thought funny as he continued on his way, heading towards the exit to begin his life in the wilderness.
Eric is currently listening to Sara explain what happened with Cashew earlier, getting angry again over how disrespectful he was to his mother.
Eric: You know what?... Fine! Fine. I give up. He's trying to do things we don't approve of, he's been disappearing for a year now at random points in the day, and now he's being disrespectful to you? Fine. If he wants to be independent so badly, fine. I don't care anymore.
Sara: To be fair, you're the one who doesn't approve of magic.
Eric: You're not helping!
Cashew has finally made it out of the village and is back in the wilderness, walking in a random direction. For the time being, he decided he's gonna stay near the village, continuing the exercise his father had him doing and practicing magic to improve his mana pool.
Sara: You're seriously suggesting we just give up and abandon him?
Eric: That's what he wants, I'm tired of this.
Sara You're not supposed to abandon a disobedient child, you're supposed to teach him why what they did is bad.
Eric: We have been doing that for a year now and if anything, he's even more disobedient.
Sara: that doesn't mean we abandon him.
Eric: You make it sound like I want to abandon him.
Sara: you do want to as abandoning him was the first thing you thought of.
Eric: You're more than welcome to keep trying, but I'm done. He's made it obvious he's not gonna listen, he doesn't care about what he does to us and I'm done trying.
Sara: Wait... What if we sent him to the capital, like the Captain wanted to? Captain said they would prepare him for joining the military when he's older, so maybe doing that would beat some sense into him.
Eric: So you're suggesting we reward him? That's what he wants. He wants to learn magic, sending him to the capital will be a reward for him.
Sara: It wouldn't be a reward, they'd be training him for being a soldier, He won't be able to run away like he does here.
Eric: you're an enabler. But I don't care anymore, do what you want.
Cashew kept walking through the forest, finding a conveniently shaped rock to settle under. The Rock had a lip that provided ample cover from any rain, it wasn't raining now, but the lip seemed perfect for stopping rain.
Cashew then started practicing his magic, casting some Ice Spikes into the air until Mana Exhaustion kicked in and he fell asleep.
After about 5-6 hours of sleep, it is now night time and Cashew suddenly woke up to a strange feeling. A feeling he's never felt before.
When he woke up, he felt like something was sniffing him. After opening his eyes, he saw that a pack of wolves was surrounding him, only One Wolf was sniffing him while the rest were looking at him. The one sniffing him was sniffing his chest, tugging at his shirt collar before backing away, noticing that Cashew was awake.
The Wolves started growling at Cashew, as if Cashew did something to offend them.
Deciding not to wait and see if the Wolves attack him, Cashew kept his hand where it was and opened his palm, quickly forming an Ice Spike and launching it at the wolf who was sniffing him.
The Ice Spike pierced the Wolves hind legs, in the thigh area, the wolf didn't die instantly and started crying in pain.
The other wolves, numbering 6 in total, including the now injured one, were offended by the move, 3 of the wolves didn't move while the other two moved closer, Growling aggressively, clearly not happy with what Cashew did.
The two who were getting more aggressive after what Cashew did kept getting closer and closer. Then, one of the wolves lunged forward, aiming to chomp down on Cashews neck.
Not staying still and waiting for death, Cashew raised his hand up again and launched another Ice Spike, aiming straight for the wolfs head, the Ice Spike went into the wolfs mouth and pierced the roof of its mouth, causing its snout to disconnect from its head and pierce into its skull, dying instantly.
The other Wolf who was originally being aggressive saw this and started to lose its aggression, the remaining 3 wolves looked at each other and fled the area, deciding that this isn't worth it.
Seeing the Wolves flee, Cashew Got up and approaching the wolf that was hit in the hip. It's still kicking and whining in pain, Cashew used another Ice Spike to put it out of its misery.
Deciding not to waste the wolves and let them rot, Cashew pulled out the dagger his dad gave him and prepared them.
Cashew had a campfire under a Rock Lip, two Wolf hides, and 100 Kilograms worth of meat, maybe not exactly 100 Kilograms, but close enough.
Eating what he could and feeling generous, Cashew decided to bring all the Wolf meat back to his village. It will be rotting before he finishes it anyways,
But the issue is that Cashew doesn't really know how to transfer the Meat. He's decently strong, but not strong enough to carry 100 Kilograms of food.
He decided to use the hide to drag the meat back to his village. It's in the Middle of the night, currently, and he's unsure anyone would even be awake.
He planned to keep the wolf hide and keep some of the meat for himself, for tomorrow. He was also afraid the hide might get damaged while being used as a sled, so he decided to keep both Wolf hides.
Cashew finally reached his parents house and saw it was dark, they must have gone to bed. He dragged the Wolf meat to the doorstep, took it off the hide, cut two legs off of one of the wolf carcasses for himself, knocked on the door, and fled around a corner, waiting to make sure the meat is actually taken inside and doesn't sit on the doorstep until sunrise.
He waits a few minutes, and nobody answers the door, he waits a little longer, then goes back up to the door and Bangs on it even harder before disappearing around the corner again.
Again, no response, he waits a little longer before approaching the door a third time and Bangs on it again, but before he can disappear around the corner, he hears a shout from inside. It's his father.
Eric: You're not our son anymore, stop trying to come back!
Cashew heard this, and realized they aren't gonna answer the door, so he might as well make them take the meat. He grabbed one of the wolf carcasses and picked it up over his shoulder, he then checked the carcas through the front window, shattering the glass, he quickly chucked the other Wolf carcass through the window and bolted away, not waiting to see what they do.
"Since they disowned me, what's a little private property damage?' Cashew thought as he ran away.
Meanwhile, his dad cursed and came storming out of their bedroom, cursing about broken glass, and a skinned wolf carcass being thrown into his house.
Cashew was running through the forest again, finding himself back at the rock he found. He had two severed wolf legs for food and two Wolf hides. Feeling wide away right now, he took the wolf hide with the most damage and decided to turn it into a bag.
He looked around nearby trees, hoping to find thin vines on one of the trees, as they are common in the forest surrounding his village, intending to use them to sew the hide of one of the wolfs into a bag to hold his books. He was tired of having to tie his smaller book around his torso- Right! He just remembered the string he has and uses to hold the one book around his torso underneath his shirt.
Cutting the legs and head off the wolf fur and folding the body into a bag, Cashew then used the dagger his dad gave him to poke tiny holes into the hide and lined the string through those holes, connecting the hide into a makeshift bag.
The string was only long enough to cover 1 side of the hide and he had to use vines to do the other side, he also wanted to have a shoulder strap for the makeshift bag, so he had to use more vines for that. After about 20 minutes of messing around, Cashew finally had a makeshift shoulder bag. He turned it inside out, the wolfs fur was on the inside, he took his Golem Construction book and his spell book on ice magic out and put them inside his new bag, testing the weight to make sure it didn't break instantly, and it seemed to hold. He neatly folded the other Wolf hide and put it alongside the severed leg hide and head hide into the bag, now he needed to figure out what to do with the leg meat he saved for himself.
Deciding to start his exercise of practice swings and push ups, sit ups, and squats to work up and appetite and eat, then, After eating, he was gonna venture a little farther from the village. Staying in the forest near the village, but going a bit farther out to see what there is, maybe find a different spot to live at for the time being, afraid the rock is too close to the village.
After finishing his exercise and eating an entire leg of Wolf meat, Cashew sat next to the fire and watched it burn.
Cashew thought about what he was gonna do with his life now, unsure on what else to do. He knows he wants to exercise and maintain his body, as well as improve his Mana Pool so he can use more spells. He'd also like to try and build a Golem at some point, but besides that, he's unsure on what to do with his life.
Since his dad said that he was disowned, he has no real reason to stick around the village anymore, so technically he can go wherever he wants, but he feels like the village and area surrounding the village is the safest place so far, he wants to get stronger before venturing out, this isn't a video game where he gets XP or anything, but he still needs to train his magic and body-
A twig snapping in the distance was heard.
