With the roars of Mega Houndoom and Charizard Y, two terrifying flames swept across the ice puppets. As the two fire-type attackers Ash brought in, Mega Houndoom and Charizard Y had a secret synergy, specifically between their abilities.
Charizard Y's ability is Drought, which enhances the power of Fire-type moves while weakening Water-type moves. At the same time, under this powerful sun created by Charizard Y's ability, Mega Houndoom's ability—Solar Power—is triggered, which boosts its Special Attack in sunny weather at the cost of HP.
However, things were different for Ash. The unique battle tactic of deep breathing constantly helped Mega Houndoom repair the damage caused by activating Solar Power. Therefore, for Mega Houndoom, its ability only enhanced its strength without inflicting any harm!

With the dual ability enhancement, Mega Charizard became even more terrifying. Furthermore… by breaking through Ho-Oh's Sacred Fire, Houndoom had already made that leap, making Mega Houndoom now comparable to a sub-Legendary Pokémon!

As the black flames unleashed by Mega Houndoom evaporated countless ice puppets, Guren showed no anger at the loss of his ice puppets. In fact, the better Houndoom performed, the happier he became. The stronger Mega Houndoom remained, the greater the chances he would have to control Ash to capture Celebi, the Grass/Psychic type Pokémon. So, he said to his Zigzagoon, "Bring out Suicune's ice puppets."

Upon hearing Guren's words, Zigzagoon nodded. With Zigzagoon's command, Suicune's ice puppets charged toward Mega Houndoom. When Mega Houndoom saw the ice puppets approaching, it let out a roar.
Then black flames began to envelop Mega Houndoom, transforming it into the three-headed hellhound, Cerberus.

With Cerberus's roar, it lunged at the ice puppet Suicune, while the ice puppet Suicune shot a Hydro Pump at Cerberus. However, the Hydro Pump evaporated upon striking the hellhound formed of black flames, revealing the dreadful temperature of these flames.
The more this happened, the more satisfied Guren became with Mega Houndoom's abilities. Although he thought of directly controlling Mega Houndoom, he hesitated at the thought that this way of evolution might be unique to Ash, deciding not to risk it.
While Mega Houndoom kept Suicune's ice puppets occupied, Ash's other Pokémon continually swept away the approaching puppets. Mega Charizard fired jets of flame to evaporate enemies, while Nidoking and Nidoqueen relentlessly used Earthquake. Mega Absol, having sensed the Masked Man's intentions, slowly returned to Ash's side; its precognitive ability told it this was the right move. Similarly, Mightyena had just reminded Absol to come protect Ash. After learning the situation from Absol, Meowth stood guard next to Ash, while Pikachu used its incredibly powerful AoE moves to clear out the ice puppets.
Abomasnow and Honchkrow appeared to be clearing the ice puppets, but were actually subtly protecting Ash and the others within a perimeter. Mega Gyarados stayed right next to Ash and the others, constantly using Hydro Pump to snipe enemies at range.
Although Mega Nihilego was reducing the number of ice puppets with Photon Geyser, if one looked closely, one would notice it hadn't moved forward; rather, it stayed right in front of Ash and the others, not budging an inch.
Meanwhile, Mega Beedrill flitted back and forth around Ash, and Gardevoir and Blissey remained right by Ash's side, completely still.
Watching this scene, Guren, despite his composure, couldn't help but feel a bit overwhelmed.

Amidst the circle of Pokémon protecting them, Ash secretly asked Sabrina, "Sabrina, how's your Alakazam doing?"
"After taking your medicine, it's fine now, but I guess it's hard to attack that Masked Man; his Zigzagoon is really strong."
"So what if I create an opportunity for you?"
"Hmm?"
Sabrina was momentarily taken aback by Ash's statement.
"You have a way?"
"Of course."
As he spoke, Ash turned to the Zigzagoon that was fixated on them from his shoulder.
