At a Ruined City of Valyrian Empire
POV of Domeric Bolton
Domeric gazed at the half-broken tower in front of him and the magma that flew around its base.
This particular tower was built on top of a hill, saving it from being consumed by the magma like so many others.
That didn't change the fact the place was still unbearably hot and the magical runes in his suit were working overtime to keep the temperature inside at normal. The wardstone he had put at the center of the chest area was still only slightly grey. When it turned completely white, the suit would run out of magic and start using Domeric's own magic to run its functions. Though he had always been careful and would leave the city before the wardstone could turn light grey.
He flew on the broom and entered the tower through one of the broken windows.
The patronus lit the dark inside of the tower. The tower was once filled with dozens of ghosts but he had exorcised them. He might not have the power to exorcise the hundreds of thousands of ghosts roaming the city, but he could easily exorcise a few of them.
He carefully flew down on his broom, going down and down until he finally came in front of the vault that he had reached the last time before he had to leave because of his wardstone running out of power.
He looked at the 10-foot large steel door barring his way to the vault that he had found with one of his magical scans.
The vault door was filled from top to bottom with runes that were carved in the Valyrian magical language. Thankfully, the runes had run out of magic centuries ago and by this point, the doors were simple steel doors and nothing more.
He used his magic to peel off the surface of the steel door, taking away all the magical runes with them. He would study them later.
The peeled-off surface was then folded into a roll and safely put inside his bottomless pouch.
Another magical scan told him that there was no other magical rune in the vault door. So, he used transfiguration to turn the center of the steel door into water. Making a large enough hole in it for him to pass easily through.
The stag once again led the way, and he followed it into a large and spacious room the size of half a football field that was filled with gold, treasures, magical artifacts that had run out of magic, magical stones that could be used as wardstones, beautiful and ancient dragon eggs, and the most important of them all… books.
Of course, centuries of time had turned most of the books into dust. So, he had to use magic to repair them back to their prime.
That… took more out of him than he had expected. But thanks to Merlin's Sapphire, he didn't need to worry about his magical reserves at the moment.
He shook his head and opened the mouth of his bottomless pouch. Then, with another wave of his wand, the books flew out of their place on the shelves and entered the pouch one by one.
Once that was done, he moved toward the dragon eggs and put his hand on top of one of them. Even through the rubber gloves, he was able to feel the magic inside the eggs.
He moved on to the next one. Dead. The next one… Dead. And the next one… Dead. After a few more tries, he put his hand on top of one of the dragon eggs and found a faint sense of warmth emanating from inside it, telling him that the dragon inside was not dead but in its petrified stasis form.
He took out a small box from the side belt that was enhanced to have a large space inside it and put the living eggs inside. The charms and runes placed in the bottomless pouch stopped him from putting any living thing inside it, so he had to come up with another method to take the eggs that he found here.
He could also use his magical suitcase. After all, it could also harbor living beings. But he definitely didn't want to open his suitcase in this dangerous area. Everything he found here had to be disinfected before it came into contact with other objects and people.
After he put away all the living eggs in the box and the dead eggs in the bottomless pouch, he moved on to the place where the magical artifacts were kept.
Of course, all the magic inside those artifacts had dried years ago but he could still charge them with magic and see if they were of any use to him or learn anything from them.
Besides the magical artifacts, there were a few Valyrian steel blades and swords, a dozen other Valyrian trinkets, and a single Valyrian armor.
The tower he had broken into before this one had three Valyrian armors. One of which had various runes embedded into the Valyrian steel along with a very powerful magical stone that could be compared to the wardstone that held the wards of Grimmauld Place back on Earth.
Unfortunately, that particular Valyrian armor was magically warded to only be used by a particular bloodline so he would not be able to use it anytime soon. At least not until he could learn enough about the Valyrian magic and be able to break through its bloodline wards.
He transformed the gold coins lying on the floor into a golden box and put the Valyrian Steel blades, armor, and trinkets inside it before he closed it and put it inside the bottomless pouch.
After all, the Valyrian blades are magical in nature and fully capable of cutting through the magic he had carved in the bottomless pouch. It would be the height of foolishness to put a sharp magical blade inside a bottomless pouch without anything to protect the pouch.
His gaze then fell on the rare and expensive gems that were not magical in nature but were still very expensive and beautiful to look at.
Maybe he would give one of these jewelry to his aunt as a gift.
With another wave of his wand, all the gems flew inside his bottomless pouch until the only thing remaining inside the vault were the gold coins.
Something that did not entice him at all.
After all, he already had a few such mountains pilfered from the last few vaults he broke into.
