I don't want to turn you into poetry
I don't want you to be the reason I bleed
I don't want you to be the reason I feel
If I do that means I've let you in
It means I've let you under my skin
Where you'll see the scars that never healed
The names seared into my veins
And the hole in my heart that just won't stop bleeding
You'll see me
And I'm not sure I want you to
I'm not sure I want you to see me
I'm not sure I want you to know me
I'm not sure I want to know you
If I do I'd want to keep every piece I knew
I'd want to engrave you into every poem,
Every love letter,
Every song,
I'd want to keep you
And I'm not sure if it's safe to
I'm not sure if it's safe to turn you into a poem
If it's safe to bleed until I'm broken
If it's safe to keep you as a memory that'll never be forgotten
Because then you'll become a part of me
Another name seared into my veins
Another scar I'm not sure will heal
Another reason for the ache not to seize
Another part of me lost seeking release
