Chapter 185 - Chapter 187 Red and White·

Ryan felt his adventure was becoming increasingly bizarre. He'd originally thought it was just a simple temple adventure, dealing with a few magical traps and mechanisms. But then, not only did zongzi appear, but there were quite a few of them. He felt this adventure was becoming more and more like a tomb raider.

But come to think of it, this is quite normal. After all, archaeologists have discovered burial sites for ancient Mayan priests and nobles within numerous Mayan pyramid temples, much like the numerous tombs of famous figures within European churches. So, it's understandable that a Mayan temple in the magical world would have a cemetery. The only thing I don't understand is why the Blood Cult members chose to establish their base on a cemetery. How is that any different from having a disco on a grave?

Standing in front of the stone gate, Ryan silently prayed that there would be no more zongzi ahead. After all, he had neither the tomb-grabbing talisman nor the black donkey hoof, so he was not prepared for tomb robbing.

Fortunately, the long time had weathered away many of the runes on the door that were used for concealment, so Ryan used his Eagle Eye skill to easily see the flow of magic on the door. So he drew his wand and sprayed golden threads in the air, allowing these threads to demonstrate the magical structure on the stone door.

Hermione saw Ryan drawing in the air on the magic structure being demonstrated. After a moment's observation, she said, "Let me help you take a look." Then, she began calculating rapidly. Calculating together proved much more efficient. They discovered that the magic structures weren't particularly complex, and it only took a short while to find a breakthrough.

After five or six minutes, Hermione indicated that she had finished her calculations and pointed out to Ryan that in order to open the stone door, he must infuse magic power into the five patterns on the door at the same time. If the magic power was not infused correctly, it would activate the magic defense system here.

After reading Hermione's calculation results, Ryan realized that the biggest difficulty here was not the simple magic structures on the stone gate, but the fact that these five patterns needed to be infused with magic at the same time, and the magic in each pattern could not be less than the total magic power of an adult wizard.

Originally, this was a mechanism set up in the temple in the past to prevent infiltration by hostile forces. After all, the chance of finding five traitors from the same force at the same time in such a high-level temple is very small. This door in the core area cannot be broken into by foreign enemies when the temple is still operating normally.

This stone door itself is made of two large pieces of obsidian. If it is forced open, it will easily attract the attention of people in the core hall above.

However, the designers of the temple probably did not expect that a thousand years after they abandoned the temple, a wizard would be able to open the stone door through special techniques.

Ryan fixed five jade talismans that had been infused with magic power on the patterns, then used silk threads dyed red with rooster blood to connect the jade talismans together, and finally held the silk threads with both hands to activate the magic power on the talismans.

The jade talisman emitted a faint white light, and the stone door opened to both sides. However, Ryan was shocked by what was in the room after opening the stone door.

Behind the gate lay a space the size of a football field. Aside from a small platform at the entrance, the rest was a vast pit. The pit was completely filled with blood, and numerous bones floated in the pool of blood. Even after thousands of years, the blood remained fresh.

The red blood and white bones in the blood pool intertwined to form a mysterious picture. In the air above the blood pool, a black mist drifted back and forth, emitting a heart-pounding buzzing sound.

In the center of the blood pool stood an unfenced stone arch bridge, one end connecting to the entrance platform and the other to the other side of the pool. On the other side, there was a corresponding platform, and directly opposite it stood a gleaming golden gate. From time to time, a wisp of red mist would rise from the blood pool, flowing toward the gate and being absorbed by it.

Every time the gate absorbs the mist, a golden light will flash.

Ryan discovered that the blood-red mist appeared at regular intervals, and the gate flickered regularly as the mist flew in, as if a living thing was breathing there.

It seems that this place on the map was probably not erased due to weathering but was deliberately erased by someone in order to hide this blood pool that looks extremely evil.

"Oh my God!" Hermione came in from behind and exclaimed softly with her hands covering her mouth. After all, for a girl who grew up in a peacetime, everything in front of her was really too exciting.

"What's going on?" Hermione asked Ryan after taking a few deep breaths to calm herself down.

"Blood sacrifice, the blood sacrifice of the indigenous people." Ryan said to Hermione. His voice was a little trembling at this time, because he was not only explaining to Hermione, but also hoped to distract his attention and dispel the uneasiness in his heart through such explanation.

"Remember when we first came to Castro Brussels School, the professor told us that before this school was established, cruel blood sacrifice magic was popular in the local area, and this place should be a place where blood sacrifice magic was performed. And the road we just walked on was probably for those sacrifices." After saying this, Ryan also figured out one thing in his mind. The servants marked on the map were not the servants who served people as he had originally imagined, but servants who needed to sacrifice their lives to serve the so-called blood god.

"Look here." After taking a look at his surroundings, Ryan pointed to a human-shaped groove on the small platform beneath his feet. "The sacrifices were supposed to be killed here. Their hearts would then be sacrificed for certain magical rituals, and their bodies would be thrown directly into the blood pool as nourishment."

"How do you know?" Hermione asked with a slight tremor. "You probably haven't been here before."

"The reliefs underfoot explain everything." Ryan tapped the ground lightly, and Hermione turned her gaze away from the eye-catching pool of blood. Sure enough, the small platform displayed the entire sacrificial process in relief, like a cartoon.

"Looking at the situation now, this is not only a temple, but also a tomb. Do you remember what the local magical history that you saw at Castro Brussels College said?"

"Let me think about it. Ah, right." Hermione turned around twice and suddenly said, "Local indigenous wizards have always believed that they came from the distant Sirius. Therefore, in high-level tombs, there must be a passage from the tomb owner's chamber leading to the outside world and directly to the location of Uranus. For us, the passage corresponding to this size of tomb is large enough for us to escape."

"That's right. The only problem now is that there is a secret room behind the golden gate. But I don't think a tomb owner who can kill so many people is a very kind person, so this pool of blood may not be so easy to pass through." Ryan said and directed a mummy he had just controlled to walk onto the stone bridge.
