With the help of the token, Aaron soon found a portal. Once he did, he didn't waste any time and entered the portal. When he entered the portal, he instinctively closed his eyes.
Travelling through portals with eyes open would be damaging to the eyes, at least at lower ranks. Once a person reaches rank 5 or higher, it will be easier for them to keep their eyes open.
The only exception would be if the person has space power or an item to protect them from the side effects.
When Aaron opened his eyes, he was outside the ruins and had returned to the academy grounds, where he had entered the portal to the ruins a week before.
Aaron looked around only to see that there were a lot of students present. It means that most of the students who entered have returned. He should be among the last batch to return. There was no rule about the last to return being disqualified or something like that. So, there was no problem for him.
The returned students are standing in various queues.
