NARRATOR's POV.
"Does anyone still have any objections to this?" Alexis asked, her tone sharp, a confident smirk tugging at her lips. "Or would you prefer I simply take my leave?"
Her gaze swept across the hall. The Elders said nothing. Not a single word. And yet, their silence spoke volumes. No matter how much they disliked her presence, they couldn't deny that what she said was true.
But as Alexis took her seat once more, Liam couldn't shake the feeling that something was terribly wrong. He had been in this courtroom for what felt like ten minutes now—ten long, confusing minutes—and there had still been no sign of Zeke. No sight of him. No hint of his presence. Not even a face in the crowd that remotely resembled him. Where was he? Why wasn't he here?
Before he could think too deeply about it, Lord Vaelith's voice rang out once again.
