Chapter 76
Kaya felt the enormous strain on her body and her Mana core as nearly eighty percent of her mana was drained in that single attack.
She didn't want to waste time fighting the first demon because the other one was watching her carefully, waiting for just one moment when she might slip up so he could strike.
She needed to end this quickly.
Her vision had gotten a bit blurry from using so much power, but she still had enough Mana left to keep fighting for a while longer.
Her eyes moved to the lesser demons surrounding her.
They were all watching her, ready to attack.
From the way they moved, she could tell they were taking orders from the other higher demon—the one who had vanished the moment she killed the demon lying dead at her feet. But that didn't matter right now.
She picked up her kunais and looked at the smaller demons rushing toward her without any fear.
Lightning crackled across her body and wrapped around her weapons.
Then she vanished from their sight. In just a few quick moments, she killed every single one of them without wasting a single strike.
Each throw and slash was meant to kill instantly.
She wasn't planning to use any other spells because the other demon was still hiding somewhere, staying out of her sensing range.
Even though she couldn't find him, she could still feel his eyes watching her.
Somewhere north, at the center
Lucas had reached the location and was now sitting on top of the huge gate.
Below him, someone was shouting orders.
He sat there calmly on the massive stone walls, looking down at the battlefield where the semi cultivators were fighting against a huge wave of demons.
Some demons were being killed, while others had lost arms or legs but kept on fighting anyway.
Lucas was just relaxing, eating some warm beef porridge under his mask.
It was pretty impressive how no one even noticed him sitting there.
Everyone's minds were focused on saving their fellow soldiers, on casting spells, on shooting arrows and throwing spears.
They were all too busy to think about anything else.
The demons had larger numbers but had individual strength.
A normal demon was usually at the peak of the First Pathway or had just entered the Second Pathway.
The higher demons were at the Third Pathway, and the mid-level demons were at the peak of the Second Pathway.
On top of that, their spells were two times stronger.
So in terms of raw power, the demons had the advantage here.
They had quality fighters, while the human soldiers could barely reach the Second Pathway.
And not even the peak of it. 'Does the Hidden City remove all the resources that could help them just so they'll beg for more later?' Lucas thought as he finished eating his meat.
"Commander." His calm voice reached the officer who wasn't far from him. The commander turned and looked at Lucas with frightened eyes.
He knew Lucas was a secret agent from the Hidden City of Sky, which meant he was much more powerful than ordinary Elites.
And those ordinary Elites were already two times or more stronger than regular soldiers like himself.
So the commander answered with extreme respect, "Yes sir."
"Tell your soldiers to fall back." Lucas spoke while looking at the battlefield, then added, "I don't want them to die."
Lucas stood up and took a deep breath.
He closed his eyes for a moment, and when he opened them again, he saw the endless blue sky above.
It was extremely beautiful.
The chaos happening below meant nothing to him.
Even if the Hidden City was holding them back, that didn't mean they couldn't try to become stronger than what they'd shown.
But that was their own fault for being weak and relying too much on the Hidden Cities, treating them like gods or higher beings instead of pushing themselves harder.
[Mana spell: Body reinforcement]
[Mana spell: Body enhancement]
'I wonder, with how large my mana pool is, what would happen if I used Mana Explosion here?' Lucas was curious.
He made sure his team wasn't spying on him or watching because this was a spell he wanted to keep secret.
Even Blake only knew that an explosion had happened that day, but he didn't know how the spell worked.
That way, nothing would link back to Lucas in the future with what he was planning.
As for the people here, he doubted anyone would understand what happened.
If his team asked later, he'd just say he used all his Mana to cast that spell, which would be true.
He would leave the rest to the soldiers, but he would keep enough Mana so he wouldn't fall to the ground unconscious afterward.
He stepped firmly on the stone wall and looked ahead at where the enemy was gathered.
His eyes focused mostly on the higher demons who were leading the attack.
He picked his target and stepped off the wall with such force that the section of stone behind him shattered.
He moved at one hundred meters per second, his fist carrying enough power to destroy a human body or half of a small hill.
As he was about to land between two demons who were already preparing to attack him, Lucas cast a spell in a microsecond.
[Mana spell: Mana Explosion]
The moment his body touched the ground, everything within a range of one hundred meters in every direction was suddenly consumed by a massive explosion.
The destruction was absolutely tremendous.
BBBBBOOOOOOOMMMMMM
The commander, who had almost fallen over from the force of Lucas's jump, watched the scene unfold in the blink of an eye.
He stared as the explosion covered everything in that area.
All the higher demons died instantly, along with every demon that had been in that location.
The ground shook in every direction, so violently that all the demons stopped moving toward the gates.
They all turned to look at the source of the explosion.
Two things stopped them: first, they had lost both of their leaders, and second, the explosion had shocked them deeply.
For a full minute, everyone just stared in that direction as the dust slowly cleared.
When it finally disappeared, they saw a man standing in a seven-meter-deep crater which was 100 meters wide.
Lucas started walking back toward the walls.
Even though the demons didn't want to move, something made them step away from his path.
He jumped out of the crater and vanished from the battlefield.
All the semi cultivators now understood just how much of the Hidden Cities' power was kept hidden from them.
It made them realize how weak they truly were.
As for the commander, he just stood there frozen.
Neither his men nor the demons dared to move, as if Lucas's eyes were still watching them.
That feeling lasted another minute before one of the commanders below finally screamed and started charging at the demons again.
