All I could hear in my head was my own panting, the cracking of something beneath my feet and my thumping heart disrupting any for of thought in my head. I couldn't see anything through the mist-covered floor. I didn't know where I was going I just wanted to get as far away as possible.
The trees loomed overhead, casting eerie shadows over the forest floors. The moon was full and bright in the pitch black sky but most of the reflections were covered by the trees. I could feel the cold breeze making my heart beat even faster.
Suddenly, I could hear footsteps coming behind me, making me quicken my pace as I ran further into the forest, although I didn't know where I was heading, I just had to get away from this unending circle which I seem to be running in since I don't even know when.
"I finally found you. You can't hide from me little one." The same voice echoed in my head as I made my way to find something, anything but these trees and mist.
