Zen and Piers returned to the Black Devil Mansion. Zen showed a token, and Piers was led to a massive room while Zen went to another. The room's ceiling was incredibly high, and the space was as large as a city. Other kids his age were also waiting.
"Here comes another one," a kid sneered.
"Oh, I know him," another said. "He got Demon King Mephisto's powers without the corruption, but his body isn't strong enough to handle it."
"Then what's he doing here?" a third scoffed. "Someone should kick him out."
Suddenly, a clanking sound echoed through the room. "Where's that coming from?" one person asked.
"Whatever it is, we need to get ready," another said. Everyone activated their devil powers. Piers summoned his Hellfire. Soon, several clanking metal soldiers came into view.
"Here we go," Piers said. He and the others charged. Piers covered the metal soldiers in his Hellfire while others cut them, crushed them, and disintegrated them. However, black smoke began to rise from the fallen soldiers, forming a cluster of ghosts.
"How annoying," a person said, using a devil whirlwind to create a black tornado that made a huge chunk of ghosts vanish. "These are nothing."
But the ghosts came back. "You were saying something?" a ghost taunted.
"Everyone, keep attacking! Something might pass," a boy shouted. While everyone used their strongest attacks, Piers retreated and focused on the remaining soldiers. As the soldiers fell, the number of ghosts increased, making it difficult for the others.
"Hey, stop your attacks!" a person yelled. "You're making it difficult! Come help us!"
Piers's attacks were indeed increasing the number of ghosts, but the others knew his Hellfire could defeat them. "What do you think I'm doing?" Piers yelled back. "I'm releasing all the ghosts so I can kill them all at once!"
The ghosts started attacking Piers. "Now he'll realize what he was doing!" a boy said. But Piers used his Hellfire, engulfing the entire arena and burning both the metal soldiers and the ghosts. With its new angelic properties, the Hellfire easily destroyed the ghosts.
Suddenly, the ground shook, and the floor broke, sending Piers and others falling into a small room. "Where is everyone?" he wondered. The wall rotated, revealing a horrifying mummy.
"You want to fight me? Then come on," Piers said. The mummy extended its bandages and bound Piers, but flames erupted from his body, burning the bandages. The mummy began to chant a spell, and Piers used his Hellfire to burn the mummy, but it wasn't affected much. The mummy then created a beam of devil energy. Piers dodged, but the room rotated 180 degrees. He dropped to the ground, and the mummy fired a beam of devil energy again, but Piers rolled and dodged unharmed. As soon as he stood up, the room rotated once more, but Piers adjusted and landed on his feet.
"Don't think I'll be affected so easily," Piers said. He used his Hellfire to completely engulf the mummy, constantly moving and dodging from the mummy's beam, and still keeping the flames on it. Soon, the mummy's devil energy beam dissipated, and it burned to a crisp.
Piers let out a huge sigh of relief. "I am so tired," he thought. After an hour, the walls of the room fell, revealing the other participants. Everyone had completed their fights, and some had died.
"Hey, everyone, line up!" Piers said. "We need to protect each other. Many have died in this test."
"Yeah," the others agreed. Many were exhausted and had little power left. Suddenly, they heard a growl.
"There!" Piers pointed. A giant orc was coming their way.
"Everyone, I think this is the final test," Piers said. "We should win this at all costs."
"But how can we even fight that huge thing?" someone asked.
"We have little devil power, and that thing is huge."
"Are we going to die here?" another person panicked.
Piers shouted, "Everyone listen! We are devil holders! It's our path to defy the norms! Whoever wants to fight, join me! The rest can forfeit here!"
A boy stepped forward. "I agree with him! We're devil holders! I will fight!"
A girl said, "Lead the way!"
Everyone began to join in. "Okay, everyone, tell me your specialty," Piers said.
"My specialty is my claws," the boy said. "They're big and sharp, and my strongest strike might be able to pierce it."
"I am proficient with my sword," the girl said. "With all my power, I can at least chop off his finger or ears."
As everyone shared their abilities, Piers devised a plan. "Okay, I want the left group to destroy the left leg and the right group to destroy the right leg. As for you, girl, I want you to make a cut in his head. And boy, I want you to pierce his head completely."
"But giants like these have regeneration powers; even though we can destroy its head, it will only slow down the regenerative powers, not kill it," the boy said. "There's no way we can destroy it."
"Yeah, that's too much for us," the girl agreed. The other groups agreed too.
"Don't worry about that," Piers said. "I will supply you all with magic at the very end."
"Magic?" the boy and girl asked. Everyone was surprised.
"Don't forget that one of Mephisto's powers is supplying magic to others," Piers said. They were all skeptical, but since they had no other choice, they agreed.
"Okay, let's show them what we've got," Piers said. The boy used his devil powers, and his hands turned into demonic hands covered in blood. His teeth grew, his pupils turned yellow, and a dark crimson energy radiated from him. The girl's tattoos began to form on her skin, and her eyes turned black with yellow pupils. Similarly, one person grew wings, another's skin became black and their muscles grew, and another turned into a black rhino. Everyone transformed, except for Piers.
They all charged at the giant orc. The girl ran quickly and began running up the giant's body, followed by the boy. The giant tried to attack them, but their small bodies made it easy to evade. The girl reached the giant's face, and the others reached their positions. Watching them, Piers activated his true strength, and everyone felt magic coursing through their bodies. The girl sliced the giant's head in half, and it turned to a crisp. The boy then used his piercing strike to destroy the rest of the giant's head with his magic-enhanced claws. Similarly, others attacked with their own magic-enhanced strength, destroying the giant's legs.
Piers, enhanced by Mephisto's powers, disappeared and reappeared in front of the giant's body, its legs already destroyed. He used his Hellfire at full power and punched in the air, sending a wave of flames at the giant, which incinerated his body and hands, leaving no chance for regeneration. The giant was killed; however, in doing so, Peir's hands were all torn up. As Piers was about to fall, the boy caught him.
"You are surely a wonder," the boy said.
A voice boomed from above, "The test is over. The results will be out soon."
