Chapter 138 - Black market visit

Rei and Tenko, now alone, went to a restaurant. Rei, remembering the words of Kaiser's father, wondered, "Now that I've completed my important tasks, I need to search the Red Mountains for my family." He ordered some food and, while waiting, took out a map. "There are five Red Mountains in this country," he said to himself. "I'll confine my search to one country for now."

A man in a cloak, who had been observing Rei, thought, "So this is Rei. It looks like he's searching for the Red Mountains." He approached Rei's table and sat down. Rei instantly grabbed his scepter, and Tenko growled.

The cloaked man spoke calmly, "I noticed that you are searching for the Red Mountains."

"So what?" Rei replied warily.

"Nothing at all," the man said. "However, you have not marked one red mountain."

"What mountain?" Rei asked.

The cloaked man pointed to a mountain on the map. "This mountain. It can be called a Red Mountain too because it turns completely red at sunset."

"What do you want?" Rei asked, suspicion lacing his voice.

"I want nothing. I just want to guide you," the cloaked man said.

Rei pointed his scepter at him. "Everyone has a hidden motive when they help others. Some are good, but some are evil."

"You catch on quick," the cloaked man admitted. "On this path is a black market. If you can bring me a Dark Eye Ore, I can give you a map that can help you explore inside the Red Mountains without any danger." Rei looked at Tenko, who seemed unsure. "Fine," Rei agreed. "I will do your work."

"The map would be given after you bring the dark ore," the cloaked man said. "You only have a week to bring it."

"Fine," Rei said, getting up with Tenko. They went to the Midgard and headed towards the black market.

As Rei traveled through the forest, he looked at the map, took a sharp turn, and went deeper into the woods. After a few hours, he saw a road and followed it towards the black market. Soon, he saw several bandits and people gathered at market stalls. When the bandits saw Rei's Midgard, they smirked and approached it. Rei got out, but the bandits ignored him and moved towards the Midgard.

"Fools," Rei muttered. "Apprentice Tier Spell: Earth Cage!" A cage of earth instantly formed around the bandits.

"You! Kill him!" one of the bandits shouted. Other people came from the market stalls.

"Apprentice Tier Spell: Lightning Strike!" Rei commanded, and lightning bolts struck the bandits, who began to fall. Rei then had a thought. "Master Tier Spell: Earth Prison!" The earth around the Midgard shifted into mud, covering it in a huge, thick dome that immediately turned to stone. The bandits inside the earth cage remain outside the dome. "Earth Prison is upgraded to a Master Tier Spell, yes," Rei said to himself. "Now that I have taken care of both these bandits and my Midgard, I should go."

Rei and Tenko went to the stalls. After some searching, he found some Dark Eye Ore. The shopkeeper, who Rei could tell was a thief, boasted, "Customer, you see, these are way too special."

Rei interrupted, his intimidation flaring. "I asked how much is this Dark Eye Ore."

The shopkeeper, getting goosebumps, stammered, "This dark ore is 500 silvers. Nothing more." Rei paid the money and left with Tenko. The shopkeeper shivered from Rei's intimidation.

Rei stopped his intimidation as he suddenly noticed some captured children being led to a tent. "Child trafficking, I see," he muttered. "For some reason, I want to stop it." His anger intensified as he looked at the man who appeared to be the merchant. "If I stop here, I won't be able to sleep at night," he thought. Rei went around to the back of the tent.

The man heard him approaching. "Who are you? How dare you come here?"

"I will give you one chance to free the children," Rei said.

"Just who do you think you are? The old demons will revive and join the new demons to overthrow my enemies! Demonic Magic: Demon's Fury!" A storm of crimson energy rushed towards Rei. Tenko jumped in front of Rei, howled, and used "Apprentice Tier Spell: Earth Wall!" A wall of earth formed some distance away. The crimson energy struck it, destroying it completely.

"Don't worry, Tenko, let me handle this," Rei said. "Apprentice Tier Spell: 9 Walls of Earth!" Nine earth walls formed in front of Rei, stopping the crimson energy after the fifth wall. "Demonic magic... it's my first time seeing it. I can see that it's very powerful," Rei mused.

"The demons are everywhere, and their strength will turn everyone into dust! Demonic Magic: Demon Strike!" The man unleashed another crimson energy blast.

"Master Tier Spell: Hydro Blast!" A blast of water from the Chaos Scepter engulfed the demonic magic and the man. As the man coughed up water, Tenko put his paw in the puddle and used "Apprentice Tier Spell: Electric Charge!" Electricity ran through the water and struck the man, knocking him unconscious.

"If it were not for my rule of not murdering any humans, he would not have lived to see another day," Rei said. He took the keys from the man, opened the nearby cages, and released the children. Their eyes were lifeless, but Rei knew he had to get them out. "I will take you to a better place. Give me some time," he told them. Rei confiscated everything the man owned to prevent him from engaging in slavery again, then left with the children.

He returned to the Midgard, ended the earth prison spell, the bandits were still in earth cage begging to get out but Rei did not minded them. Rei put the children inside, and drove away. With the Dark Eye Ore and the man's money bags, he had more than enough of what he needed. Before going to the cloaked man, Rei went to the Hunters' Tower. "What can I do for you?" the receptionist asked.

"These children had become slaves," Rei explained. "Please take care of them and help them start their lives again."

"Sure," the receptionist said, taking the children. Rei then went to meet the black-cloaked man.
