"We never hurt the ones we love, Astra, even if they hurt us." Mother said gently, crouching before her oldest daughter.
Astra pouted, eyes indignant, "But she broke my favourite doll! Ollie won't attend my birthday party now!" Mother looked at me and pulled me closer, tears staining my face.
"Is Ollie more important than your sister, Astra?" Astra thought about it for a while, then shook her head. That was the signal I needed before my arms wrapped around my favourite human being.
"I love you, mummy." That night, with her rose scented perfume circling around me, I uttered, and she smiled at me as my body sought her warmth. Her comfort. Those green eyes shone with so much love and care that 5 years old buried her head deeper from the intensity.
But now those green eyes look at me with so much emptiness. Her blood filled the air. The screams so loud that a train whistle wouldn't compare. They had massacred my entire family. I. Couldn't. Breathe.
