Chapter 278: Late-Night Bedwarmer Hug Pillow, Disciple, Don't Look (4)
When it was over—
Su Qing comfortably closed his eyes and drifted off to sleep.
But the Heavenly Dao Sect Master couldn't sleep all night, listening to the soft breathing next to her.
The night had grown deep. That bastard and her disciple both seemed to have fallen asleep.
Should she take this chance to do something?
Maybe try a sneak attack or assassination?
But that thought vanished as quickly as it came.
If he dared to treat her like this, he had to be baiting her again, just like before.
She couldn't afford to fall into his trap. Best to pretend like nothing happened.
Still—this was the first time in her life she'd ever been held in a man's arms.
This kind of closeness let her feel the heat of his body pressed against hers.
Too many things had happened today, and her Dao heart was in utter chaos.
Regret crept in, quietly.
She even feared he might take advantage of her while she slept. That's why she didn't dare close her eyes.
She had to protect her bottom line. If it came down to it—death was still better.
But nothing happened the whole night.
When the Sect Master woke, she rubbed her sore head.
A full night without sleep had left dark circles under her eyes.
With her powers sealed, she was no different from a regular person.
Of course pulling an all-nighter would be exhausting.
On the other hand, someone else looked quite refreshed.
Ye Xueyi's cheeks were rosy, her energy high—clearly, she'd slept like a baby.
Last night, she'd hugged both of them in her sleep and practically passed out in bliss.
If it weren't for needing to keep up appearances, she'd probably have asked to sleep even longer.
"Time's short. No matter what grudges we have, we need to focus on getting out of here."
"This little world is about to collapse. There's not much time left."
The Sect Master looked up at the sky as she spoke.
There was no sun here, just a clear, pale sky.
But now, several dark cracks had appeared overhead.
Clearly, these were space fissures, signs that this pocket world wouldn't last much longer.
When it did collapse, everything inside would be swallowed by the chaos of spatial turbulence.
"Glad you're thinking clearly. I was worried you'd try to take us down with you."
Su Qing chuckled.
"If it were just you, I wouldn't mind."
The Sect Master replied coldly.
"Master, how do we get out then?" Ye Xueyi asked.
"Our only hope is the altar at the center of this small world," the Sect Master replied.
"The altar at the center? What's the point of finding it? Will it really work?"
Su Qing looked skeptical.
"Believe it or not."
Her voice was calm and unbothered.
She wasn't lying—
But what she hadn't said was that using the altar required her to unlock the power of her past life.
If she tried to escape that way... well, the consequences went without saying.
"Fine. I suppose someone who cares this much for her disciple wouldn't gamble with her life."
Su Qing nodded after a moment's thought.
The Sect Master exhaled silently in relief.
This way, there was still a sliver of hope she could escape from his grasp.
Obeying him for a lifetime? No way!
The proud Heavenly Dao Sect Master would never live under anyone's heel.
If he didn't kill her now, he might never get another chance!
Su Qing seemed oblivious to all this as he packed up and got ready to move.
This small world seemed to contain only forest—no other life at all.
That made navigation a serious challenge.
"The central altar should be that way. Just follow this path."
The Sect Master scanned the area and quickly pinpointed the location.
Not by any tracking method—she simply felt a pull in that direction.
"You really know your way around here."
Su Qing smiled as he started walking.
The Sect Master and the Goddess followed behind him, one on each side.
After a while, the Sect Master began to feel uneasy.
Why did it feel like they were his personal entourage?
But if she walked ahead... that felt even worse.
That would make them look like a couple.
"Dao Master, I've heard many stories about you. Mind sharing a few?"
"Back then, they called you the most beautiful woman in the world—was that reputation really deserved?"
"Besides being the Dao Master, weren't you also known as the Ice Queen or something?"
"You must've had countless suitors. Any who came close?"
Su Qing showed no shame as he bombarded her with questions.
The more titles he listed, the more humiliated the Sect Master felt.
She hated talking about such gossip to begin with.
Hearing it from his mouth made her feel like he was doing it on purpose.
And his goal?
Obviously—to increase his own sense of accomplishment.
She could see right through that twisted little mind of his.
But to reach the altar, she had to endure it.
She answered with the bare minimum, never saying more than a single word if she could help it.
Su Qing, of course, noticed her cold attitude—but didn't care.
They'd only just met—it was normal to not be close.
Soon enough, she'd be talking freely about all of it.
Especially in the right "state." He was confident about that.
Finally, the forest began to thin.
An ancient altar appeared in a clearing ahead.
The Sect Master couldn't hide the excitement in her eyes.
She'd endured so much—but now, hope was right in front of her.
The altar was carved from an unknown material, its surface etched with ancient runes.
Simple, yet sacred—just looking at it filled one's heart with awe.
"This is it, right?"
Su Qing turned to her with a subtle smile.
"Correct. I can use this altar to restart the space-time channel—we can go back."
Her voice was perfectly calm, not a hint of deception.
"Dao Master, you seem to know this place really well. So why did you come here in the first place?"
"Don't tell me you went through all that effort just to open a door and leave again."
Su Qing asked casually.
"I planned to make this place the foundation of the Heavenly Dao Sect. But I had to abandon it due to insufficient power."
"If I hadn't forced my way in..."
She let out a quiet sigh, her tone tinged with regret.
It sounded reasonable, like her entire plan had failed from the very start.
