"What the...hell happened?"
Jayden murmured softly as he slowly opened his eyes, he was jolted awake when he saw the bodies floating in the hall room.
'Are they dead?...Bart!'
He quickly used his infrared vision and saw that their bodies still emitted heat normally.
'That could have been bad'
Jayden exhaled in relief as he slowly flew towards Bart, he began to rub his hands at superspeed while allowing the speed force to build charge.
"Bro," he muttered under his breath, "don't hate me for this."
He pressed his finger to Bart's chest ,a surge of Speed Force lightning leapt out, jolting through him like a shockwave.
"Gah!~"
Bart's body arched, air ripping back into his lungs with a gasp.
"J!?, what happened..."Bart mumbled as he slowly opened his eyes.
He looked out the window and noticed a giant red sun, two times larger than the Earth's sun.
"J?, are we in a dead zone... we're outside the milky way galaxy!"
"A dead zone! What are you talking about?"
"As speedsters we can sense the vibrations of matter and energy, this allows us to detect subtle life signs... oh wait you haven't reached that level yet."
"..."
"Ahem!" Bart quickly cleared his throat as he avoided his deadpan expression, he then added:
" The planets near us are vibrating but there are no living beings as I cannot sense their vibrations.
I don't know where we are but it looks like a battlefield? Batman and Uncle Wally are on Alpha Centauri with the Reach and Wonderwoman is in the underworld...how screwed are we??"
Jayden began to sweat as he heard Bart, most heavy hitters were not present and that raised the burden on his shoulders.
'This was planned for a long time, most systems are down but life support is functioning properly... Before making any plans i need to know what we're dealing with and what is our fighting force'
"Uhh J? We're under the red sun... how come you still have your powers?"
'How could I forget that!'
Jayden took a deep breath and felt the solar energy coursing through him, however he felt something bizarre, the yellow sun in his cells was still abundant.
"Unlike normal Kryptonians, my cells have an aggressive metabolic throughput therefore my solar retention is vast.
It's hard to explain because it has something to do with my cellular matrix, there's also the speed force coursing through me so that devours more energy?
The amount of solar energy i have can last me for 12 hours if i use my powers moderately and 20-60 minutes if I engaged in serious combat"
Gurgle!
Bart held his stomach as he felt it rumble,He raised his wrist and pressed a small panel.
A compartment opened, and he pulled out a protein bar, quickly biting into it.
The red indicator on his wrist meter gradually shifted as he ate, from deep red to orange, then yellow, and finally green, signaling his hunger was satisfied.
"J, what should we do now?"
"Firstly, we need to turn the tower back on, the life support system must be operating from backup power and we don't know how long it will last and before we proceed with anything else... Let's deal with that first."
' Should we wake up the others...no that will cause chaos and confusion'
Jayden grabbed Bart by the collar as he flew them out of the hall room, he then used x-ray vision as he analysed the structure of the tower but some places had lead coating.
"Woof!"
"J, do you hear that? I think it's a dog...or a wolf?"
Jayden used his hearing as he began to listen deeper.
He could hear many heartbeats, people breathing in and out, he could also hear someone smashing a table out of rage.
'At least someone is awake, let's deal with the dog first'
"Bart, hold on"
Jayden picked up more speed and soon they appeared near the cafeteria that was locked.
"We can't open the door and I can't punch it since I might hurt those inside, the door is made from a dwarf star alloy"
"Oh?"Bart quickly raised his eyebrows as he heard that statement.
"How do you know that?"
"Well not to brag but I have microscopic vision, so I can see the chemical composition of the door...
there's also the fact that I stole...*cough* permanently borrowed some from Joker who stole from The Ninth Circle, they also stole some from Palmer tech"
"You did what?"Bart's jaw almost fell to the floor as he heard the news, he couldn't believe what he was hearing.
"You're the mysterious speedster that keeps terrorizing Gotham, wait until I tell everyone what you did, you're in so much tr.."
"I'll give you the phantom bike... I'll also allow you to test drive my spaceship"
"J, is it really stealing if you take from bad guys and use what you... permanently borrowed for greater good"
Bart's expression softened, without saying a word at first, he stepped closer and rested a hand on Jayden's shoulder.
"Hey," Bart said quietly, a half-smile forming. "As your best friend… I completely understand, my lips are sealed."
'How many times has he tried to steal the phantom bike, I shouldn't have showed him the fortress'
Jayden sighed as he slowly approached the door, he slipped in his fingers through the small opening and began to slide it open.
"I thought you would struggle, if something is so easy to open...why would someone make it a door?"
"Bart, a small key carved out from a dwarf star alloy weighs 500 000 tons and this is a door... it's not easy to open, I am strong enough to open it"
"Woof!"
The moment the duo entered the cafeteria, they saw nothing but a mess.
"Krypo!!! what have you done!"
Tables destroyed, walls scratched, chairs chewed to their last legs.
"Krypo, just because we can eat anything it doesn't mean you should, Dad...Clark leaves you alone because he believes you're responsible"
Jayden sighed as he approached Krypo and picked him up, although he tried to resist, the loss of his powers made everything easier for Jayden.
"Bart, let's go, grab on"
Bart quickly grabbed on and they soon left the cafeteria.
As they flew down the corridor, Jayden glanced back at Krypto, who wagged his tail lazily in his arms, tongue hanging out like nothing had happened.
"You're lucky you're cute," Jayden muttered.
They reached the command center, the core of the tower. The main doors were sealed, no power running through the panels.
Bart folded his arms. "So… we're stuck again?"
"Not really."
Jayden tightened his grip around Bart and Krypto, lightning flickering faintly around his body.
With a sharp breath, he phased them through the door.
In an instant, they were inside.
"Oh, what are you guys doing here?"
The room was torn apart, wires hanging, panels removed, circuitry exposed.
Everything looked like it had been stripped down for repair.
From deeper in the room, a soft glow bloomed.
The Signal , Duke Thomas,stood near a central console, using his light powers to illuminate the space.
Jayden's eyes flickered. ,"Raven?" he whispered.
Duke's light pulsed, casting sharp edges of brightness across the wreckage, revealing Batwing, Donna, Jessica Cruz, Jon, Cyborg, and Raven huddled behind damaged consoles.
