Chapter 462 - Departure and Fluctuations

Shiro did not answer. He simply stood up and walked toward the corridor behind them.

Ever since entering the Hunters Guild headquarters, aside from Hunter D acting arrogantly at the start, everyone else had behaved surprisingly normally.

Whether it was the calm and steady Hunter A, the creepy old-woman-like Hunter B, the old man Hunter F, or the silent Hunter J… none of them showed any hostility.

It felt as though W was truly just a newly joined companion. They had even tolerated his greed and rudeness.

'Ah… am I being too paranoid?'

After entering the teleportation device at the end of the hall, Shiro activated it directly.

Buzz~

Following the loud hum, the familiar pulling sensation of space and dizziness struck again.

When the door opened, the corridor outside was clearly the Jubilife City branch of the Hunters Guild.

Farlen immediately came over from nearby with a respectful attitude. "Lord W, you've finally returned... With you here, our Jubilife branch will definitely—"

Shiro raised a hand to interrupt him. "Aren't you the manager of the Sinnoh region?"

"I... I was before Lord A and Lord B arrived in Sinnoh. But now I'm only in charge of the Jubilife branch..." Farlen explained.

Shiro frowned slightly. "So both A and B are in Sinnoh. Does that mean the Hunters Guild headquarters is actually here too?"

"I didn't say anything." Farlen forced out a smile and repeatedly gestured invitingly while walking out of the corridor first.

Shiro ignored him completely and directly teleported out of the Hunters Guild.

Jubilife City streets.

"I still think there's something wrong with them."

As he spoke, Shiro casually bought two Pokémon cream puffs from a nearby street vendor.

Unown A flashed briefly and one of the cream puffs vanished with it.

'Mmm... even I can't figure out those two people's identities or appearances…' Unown A said while stuffing the cream puff into its mouth. 'Both of them were covered by psychic power.'

"Psychic power?" Shiro asked.

'It's a very familiar psychic power, but I can't remember where I've sensed it before.' Unown A twisted its pointed little head in confusion. 'The strength is about the same as mine. It should belong to a Champion-level Psychic-type Pokémon.'

"A Psychic-type Pokémon..."

Shiro suddenly recalled his encounter with Koga, when Koga had mistaken him for Hunter A.

According to Koga himself, Hunter A liked wearing black cloaks, specialized in psychic abilities, and had a brutal personality.

Because of his previous experience of killing Hunter G and seizing the Unown, Shiro had subconsciously treated the Hunters Guild as enemies.

But in reality, he himself was now one of the highest-ranking members. Those people did not know his identity, and even if they did, it probably would not matter much.

The Hunters Guild was a chaotic organization. Anyone could join.

Shiro had expected conflict and a massive battle.

'You're way too tense.' Unown A was still savoring the taste of the cream puff. 'Look around. Sinnoh is actually full of good people. Like that chubby Professor Rowan, Professor Carolina, Cynthia, and all these citizens who run around every day without anyone knowing what they're busy with. They're all good people!'

Unown A stared fixedly at a beautifully decorated Pokémon dessert shop, not even realizing what it was saying.

Hearing that, Shiro silently finished the cream puff in his hand.

Beep, beep~

A long and rhythmic car horn sounded from the roadside as a dark yellow taxi stopped beside him.

The car window rolled down, revealing an old face wearing tinted glasses and covered in messy stubble.

"Handsome guy, not waiting for someone, are you? Need a ride?" The middle-aged driver leaned against the steering wheel and adjusted his glasses with one hand.

Shiro glanced at the office workers in suits hurrying along the sidewalk. Then he nodded, opened the door, and got into the taxi.

"Just head west. To the westernmost part of Jubilife City."

"Got it!"

The driver answered loudly as the engine started vibrating again.

Somewhere in Sinnoh, Hunters Guild headquarters.

Inside the stone chamber, Hunter A forcefully twisted his stiff neck and shook his wrists a few times. Leaning back in the chair, he let out a long breath.

"He finally left."

"Truly terrifying..." the hoarse-voiced old woman beside him slowly said. "Psychic power, supreme authority, and the world's origin power actually stayed beside a human for so long."

Hunter A tilted his head slightly. The pale mask with only two empty eye holes looked somewhat horrifying.

"He is a rare genius..." he calmly stated. "From a rookie trainer to becoming a regional Champion, it only took him a year."

"Hehehehe..." Hunter B let out several creepy laughs. "In the decades since the League was founded, only three people including him have achieved something like that, right? And now they've all become pillars supporting the League."

Hunter A nodded and muttered, "Galar Champion. Kanto's newly promoted professor, Shiro. Originally from Kanto. Left Galar three months ago. Multiple Legendary Pokémon are accompanying him. Suspected to possess Mesprit and Unown."

Hunter B hunched over and simply lay on the table. "So it was Mesprit. It's not one of those Mythical Pokémon that likes humans. Yet after escaping captivity, it actually stayed beside that kid instead of immediately returning to Lake Verity... How strange."

"Soon." Hunter A emphasized the word calmly. "Mesprit will leave eventually."

Before his words fully faded, psychic power lit up and the surrounding space twisted violently.

The two vanished from the spot.

Kanto, League Headquarters.

Inside the top-floor office, Goodshow stood leisurely by the window while stroking a plump Delibird.

Bang!

The office door was violently pushed open.

"Chairman Goodshow!"

An urgent voice rang out.

Goodshow's brow twitched almost imperceptibly. When he turned around, he had already put on his usual kind smile.

"What is it?"

The male League employee in the standard light blue uniform did not even have time to wipe his sweat. He quickly handed over a report file while explaining, "Si-Sinnoh... detected abnormal psychic fluctuations. Suspected Hunter A activity once again..."

"Hunter A?" Goodshow repeated the name softly. After carefully reading the report, he placed it back on the desk.

Instead of inquiring about Hunter A first, he asked, "Where's Abbot? Why didn't he come report personally?"

The employee carefully wiped the sweat off his forehead with his sleeve and replied, "Vice Chairman Abbot said he's too old to run around anymore, so he sent me over first since I could move faster."

Goodshow said nothing. His gaze remained fixed on the young employee for a long time, making the rookie who had joined less than a year ago break out in goosebumps.

"Abbot went out, didn't he? He's not at headquarters?"

"Th-This..."

The employee stammered nervously.

"Alright, you can leave." Goodshow still wore the same smile, though his tone had become much colder.

Bang.

The office door closed.
