Chapter 20 - CHAPTER 20: Reunion

But I still need to grow my influence, in order to be strong ….. having Damon is good, but I need my own strength

After Leo exposes a bit of the secrets, the Chun family's business beginning to crumble, I moved on to my next step—establishing my own power.

I always have it in mind to open a fashion Brand, so let me try it now that I have money and a manager for it.

I picked up my phone .... 'Leo look for Mr. Jamie for me, he is the best designer & Influential in the Industry known to have won multiple International Awards with his Designs.

But suddenly he suddenly left the Industry, no news about him was seen or heard, but from my memory of the past ….. he is M City in the South-West of X City and its very close to C City ... I know where he is but had to put on a show ... I feel like am being watch, but it's ok

I recently bought a fashion Company 'D Fashion Enterprise' from the Dennis Family

One evening, while reviewing reports in my office, my phone buzzed.

Leo: "You're going to want to see this."

A few moments later, a file appeared in my inbox. I clicked it open and nearly dropped my phone.

It was a picture.

Ava… and Gray.

They were seated together in a private lounge, deep in conversation with a paper in front of them ….. it seems to be a contract paper, so I zoomed the image

A contract about how Gray was investing in Ava's new business venture.

My ex-fiancé—who once looked at Ava with nothing but disgust—was now in business with her?

This is getting interesting but am well prepared for them.

I think its time to deal with this two – I thought as I dial Leo's number

 "It's time," I said coldly.

"For what?"

I smiled, my voice steady.

"To completely destroy them."

JING UNIVERSITY – CAMPUS RETURN

The day finally came.

My return to Jing University.

Stepping onto campus felt different this time.

Last semester, I was Lisa Jing—the spoiled, willful, naive girl obsessed with her fiancé.

Now, I was Lisa Zichen.

A title no one knew yet.

And I intended to keep it that way.

As I walked through the gates, whispers followed me.

"Look, it's her." Student 1

"The laughing stock of the last party." Said by Student 2

"She still has the nerve to show her face here?" Student 3

"can you blame her?" Student 2 replied

"I guess some people are born thick skinned" Student 1 said again

I ignored them, keeping my chin high.

Let them talk.

They had no idea who they were dealing with now.

A familiar voice called out my name.

"Lisa!"

I turned—and for the first time in a long while, I felt a sense of relief.

Victoria.

She stood there, arms crossed, her short brown hair bouncing slightly as she tapped her foot impatiently.

I barely had time to react before she pulled me into a hug.

Then, without warning—

Smack!

Her hand landed hard against my arm.

I winced. "Ow! What the hell—"

"That's for not calling me, you idiot!" Victoria huffed, glaring. "Do you know how worried I was? You just disappeared!"

I sighed. "It's… complicated."

"Damn right it's complicated." She studied me carefully, her sharp brown eyes narrowing. "You look different."

I smirked. "Do I?"

She nodded. "You're… calmer. It's weird."

I shrugged. "People change."

She didn't look convinced, but before she could press further, another unwanted voice interrupted.

"Lisa."

I felt irritated and annoyed by just the sound of the voice, so I pretended like I didn't hear anything.

"Lisa" I heard my name again as the voice was getting closer

I rolled my eyes as I stick to pretending that I didn't hear him

But I guess, he is so thick skinned that he didn't observe his surrounding or is he pretending not to?

Because he came closer

Zhang Gary – Lisa, I have been calling your name for a while now

I turned as I asked …. "How can I help you?"

His once confident, arrogant expression had shifted into something else.

Regret?

Anger?

Or maybe… desperation?

"Can we talk?" he asked, voice low.

I tilted my head, lips curving into a lazy smirk.

"Oh? What is there to talk about, my dear ex-fiancé?"

His jaw clenched. "Lisa, don't do this."

I folded my arms. "Do what?"

He hesitated. "You know what I mean. We need to talk—alone."

Victoria immediately stepped in. "She has nothing to say to you, Zhang Gary. Get lost."

He ignored her, eyes still on me. "Lisa, please."

I stared at him, my heartbeat steady.

Once, I would have done anything for him.

Once, his voice alone could make my heart race.

But now?

He was nothing more than a pawn in my game.

I stepped closer, just enough to let my voice drop into a whisper.

"Tell me, Gary… does Ava know you're here?"

His expression darkened. "This isn't about Ava."

I let out a soft laugh. "Oh, but it is."

I turned on my heel, linking arms with Victoria. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a life to live."

And without another glance, I walked away.

Leaving Zhang Gary exactly where he belonged.

Behind me.
