Chapter 40 - Chapter 40: Hinata

Chapter 40: Hinata

In matters of protecting her younger sister, the usually timid Hinata finally showed commendable courage.

"Sister..."

Hinata's younger sister, Hanabi, had sharp instincts. She quickly sensed that whatever was going on between Hinata and this so-called "brother-in-law" was not built on genuine feelings.

"If this man is bullying you, even if I can't beat him, the Hyūga clan won't let him get away with it!"

Sasuke chuckled at Hanabi's words.

"Hanabi, you're quite fierce, aren't you?"

Hinata, too, found her strength at that moment and scolded Sasuke, "Sasuke, say less!"

Turning to Hanabi, she tried to explain, "Hanabi, this is complicated. Calm down first."

But Hanabi was still fuming.

"If you're not here willingly, then I can't stay calm!"

"You damn bastard! Take your dirty hands off my sister's leg!"

Sasuke's rebellious side flared up. He smirked and provoked her, "I won't."

"She's my wife. I told you not to come in, yet here you are. Why?"

Hanabi couldn't take it anymore. She turned her back in frustration.

Hinata shot Sasuke a glare of disapproval.

"Sasuke, if you keep acting like this, I will truly be angry!"

Sasuke quickly raised his hands in surrender and laughed. "Hinata, don't be mad. I'll listen to you."

Hinata immediately declared, "Then I need to explain things to Hanabi tonight. You have to leave."

Sasuke's expression darkened.

"That's not happening."

Hanabi couldn't believe it.

"You shameless man! You're handsome, but you're completely shameless!"

"My sister told you to leave, yet you won't?"

Sasuke countered, "You're just a kid. What do you know?"

"If I leave, how will I become your brother-in-law?"

"I've worked so hard to win Hinata over!"

Hinata was speechless.

If she could, she wished she had never met Sasuke in her life.

"..."

Hanabi, too, was dumbfounded. Even in the strict and disciplined Hyūga clan, she had never encountered a man as shameless as Sasuke.

Her impression of Sasuke had turned extremely negative.

But Sasuke didn't care. For now, he wasn't trying to win Hanabi over, so he wasn't concerned about how she saw him.

...

"Hanabi, why don't you go back for now? Tomorrow, I'll explain everything properly."

With Sasuke there, Hinata didn't know how to talk to Hanabi.

She definitely couldn't tell the truth.

If Hanabi found out everything, she'd probably pick a fight with Sasuke in her effort to protect Hinata.

"No way!"

Hanabi pointed at Sasuke. "He leaves. Tonight, I'm sleeping with my sister."

Sasuke scoffed, "You should leave instead. You interrupted my moment with Hinata. Be careful, or I'll deal with you properly."

Hanabi, fearless as always, stood her ground.

She was the Hyūga clan's second princess, surrounded by clan members. She refused to believe Sasuke would dare to truly harm her.

"Bring it on! I'm not scared!"

"Enough! Both of you!"

Hinata finally snapped.

"Hanabi, listen to me. Leave!"

Sasuke wasn't going anywhere, so she had no choice but to get Hanabi out instead.

"No! I'm staying to protect my sister!"

With that, Hanabi lay down next to Hinata, determined to stay the night.

"..."

Sasuke hadn't expected Hanabi to be this stubborn.

Hopefully, she'd grow up to be less annoying.

"Hinata, let's leave this place to Hanabi."

Sasuke pulled Hinata up and made a decision. "We'll sleep at my place instead."

"..."

Hinata's face turned bright red.

"No!"

Hanabi also pulled Hinata back. "My sister isn't going anywhere. She's sleeping with me!"

Sasuke smirked.

"Alright!"

"In that case, we'll all sleep together. Let's see who gives up first!"

Shameless as ever, Sasuke lay down and pulled Hinata close, even kicking Hanabi aside. "Move over!"

"You dare kick me? I'll kill you!"

Furious, Hanabi grabbed a kunai and charged at Sasuke.

But Sasuke was far too strong for her. With a flick of his wrist, he sent her kunai flying.

Thud! The kunai embedded itself into a wooden beam, and Hanabi was effortlessly subdued.

"Don't worry. When you're older, you'll be part of my harem too."

"For now, my focus is on Hinata, not you."

"Behave, or I'll tie you up."

Hanabi felt utterly humiliated. Sasuke was too powerful—she had no chance against him.

"Sister, he's bullying me!"

Hinata sighed in exasperation and pleaded with Sasuke. "Sasuke… please."

Sasuke grumbled, "She attacked me first."

"If it weren't for you, Hinata, I'd have beaten her black and blue."

With that, he released Hanabi.

Hanabi rubbed her wrist, wary of Sasuke's strength, but still refused to back down.

"Hmph! Don't get cocky!"

"Once I unlock my Byakugan and master the Gentle Fist, I'll make you pay!"

Sasuke smirked. "Oh? You think the Byakugan is impressive?"

"Gentle Fist? It's nothing special."

The Gentle Fist was deadly against ordinary ninjas, sometimes even lethal in one strike.

But in the later parts of the original series, where power levels became absurd, the Hyūga clan had faded into obscurity.

Only the Tenseigan from a movie had any real significance.

Hanabi wasn't done arguing.

"Don't underestimate us! My cousin, Neji Hyūga, could beat you ten times over!"

Oh?

She was bringing up Neji now?

Sasuke laughed. "Wait until the Chūnin Exams. I'll show you what a real genius looks like."

"In front of me, Uchiha Sasuke, no one else has the right to be called a genius!"

What an arrogant guy!

But—

At that moment, Hanabi realized something.

"You're from the Uchiha clan?"

"Wasn't the Uchiha clan wiped out?"

Hinata grew nervous. She feared Hanabi's words would touch a nerve and provoke Sasuke's wrath.

The Uchiha massacre was a painful topic for him.

However—

This Sasuke was a transmigrator. He had no emotional attachment to the Uchiha clan.

He simply replied, "Hanabi, you're too ignorant. Who told you there were no Uchiha left? I am the last one."

"Remember this. I, Uchiha Sasuke, am not just your future brother-in-law."

"One day, I'll be your husband too!"

Even Hinata couldn't take it anymore.

"Sasuke—!"
