Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: VIP room

I followed Mr. Sullivan's men toward the VIP room. My heartbeat grew louder. It was annoying—I was starting to sweat too.

"Don't worry, Mrs. Cantillado, I won't do anything to harm you," Mr. Sullivan said with a smile.

I could only nod at his words. We arrived at the door of the VIP room. Mr. Sullivan entered first, followed by his men who gently ushered me inside. I was stunned by the beauty of the room.

Aside from the elegant lighting, there were sofas made from truly expensive materials. What added even more charm to the room was the wine cellar, filled with luxurious imported wines.

"Now let's talk about the bet," he said, snapping me back to reality.

Right. That's the reason I'm here.

"Yes, sir. What do you want? You said earlier you're not interested in money."

"You mentioned earlier that you have a daughter, right?"

His words made me nervous.

"Yes…" I replied hesitantly.

"You must know how hard it is to be a parent. You have to give them everything they need."

"I really don't understand what you're saying…" He immediately signaled his men to leave the room. The tension I felt only grew stronger.

"You probably know who we are. People fear us because of our family's past business. And even though we've entered the corporate world now, I can't deny that we still continue our family's old ways."

"I'm really sorry, Mr. Sullivan, but I don't understand," I said. I didn't want to jump to conclusions, but I had a feeling I knew where this was going.

I saw his face suddenly turn serious.

"Okay, I'll stop beating around the bush. I want your daughter to marry my son."

I froze at his words. Marriage? His son and my daughter? That can't happen. His son is known to be terrifying, and there are rumors that he's abusive. Who knows what he might do to my daughter? But if I refuse, what will happen to me in this VIP room?

"Mr. Sullivan, what you're asking is impossible… Can we consider another option?"

"Okay," he said, and I breathed a sigh of relief.

"Then pay me the amount you owe… If I'm not mistaken, that's 67 million plus interest," he replied with a smile.

I couldn't move as I realized that was indeed the amount I owed him. Even if I worked nonstop and sold all our assets, I wouldn't be able to pay him back.

What should I do? I can't let my daughter enter a world full of hungry beasts.
