Chapter 53: The King's Last Stand
The samurai ground his teeth together to stand up despite the intense pain. His body experienced continuous waves of agony yet he managed to stay standing. He couldn't run. Not now. The fight remained active so he couldn't leave. The samurai refused to flee because his king remained on his feet.
The atmosphere became dense as if destiny itself wanted to step in.
A force unlike anything he had ever experienced took control of the battlefield. It was suffocating, oppressive, indescribable. His physical body responded before his brain could understand what was happening. His body announced his alarm through fastened breath and accelerated heart while preventing any movement from taking control.
Then he saw it.
A figure stood just ahead.
A shadow among shadows.
A force beyond reason.
The figure stared straight at him.
