Chapter 319 - Chapter 319

Hikaru read Kadabra's memories.

After Nayla's parents passed away from sorrow, Abra became a wild Pokémon with no trainer. Yet it still wanted to fulfill the girl's wishes—to free her from nightmares. Inheriting her parents' hopes, it continued to seek Pokémon related to dreams.

But for Abra itself, overusing Psychic powers caused extreme fatigue, forcing it to sleep 18 hours a day. If it didn't, it couldn't use its abilities at all.

So, to complete its mission, Abra first had to overcome its own narcolepsy.

It left, traveling far, gathering medicines and battling fiercely with wild Pokémon.

And, just as it had envisioned—

It evolved.

"Once it evolved into Kadabra, it no longer struggled with endless sleep. It could devote itself fully to searching for dream knowledge and remedies. It wandered all across Unova, even to distant lands."

Even when its trainer died, this Pokémon still worked for her sake.

Psychic-types had remarkable intelligence and empathy. Their bonds with trainers weren't simply friendship—they were deeper.

Nayla clutched Kadabra's hand tightly.

It didn't resist.

It knew this moment couldn't last long. So let her hold on. It had missed her warmth for so long.

It remembered: back when it was still Abra, the girl would always hug it, and it would Teleport her everywhere for fun. Their favorite place was the Marvelous Bridge.

Back then, they dreamed of the future.

"Is the mist time-limited?" Nayla asked Hikaru.

"Of course," Hikaru nodded. "But you can keep these statues. And if you can touch things from the real world… you can even use Poké Balls. To be safe, I'll give you two special ones."

They were two green Strange Balls.

Nayla touched one curiously. She realized—even without mist or special power—she could still interact with these Poké Balls.

"These are special Balls I crafted. They strongly seal beings from other worlds, but otherwise function like normal Poké Balls. Looks like even a true ghost can use them."

Her Pokémon had returned. She had broken free of nightmares. Nayla thought of the Lunar Wing and raised it, but Hikaru stopped her.

"Cresselia's voice echoes. It's waiting outside."

Nayla floated upward. As a ghost, she could touch the physical world but still phase through walls.

She rose to the roof—and saw Cresselia shining beautifully.

"In that dark nightmare, I heard my father's voice… Lunar Wing… It didn't reach me in time, but I'm alright now. So, return this feather to the one who gave it… I've waited for the day we could meet."

She held it up, but Cresselia shook its head.

Strong emotions and light flowed from it—a blessing for Nayla's future.

"Even as a spirit, you can live normally. The Lunar Wing is your protection. Keep it, and walk your new journey."

Cresselia danced gracefully into the sky. Nayla gazed after it, whispering:

"Thank you."

The nightmare that had haunted Lentimas Town for generations was finally over. Ghost Pokémon lingered near Nayla, drawn to her spirit.

"Ghost Pokémon love being around true ghosts. They're a strange kind of companion."

"These Pokémon seem to like you. Why not travel with them?"

A ghost trainer with Ghost-types… while a Kadabra carried her Poké Balls?

It almost seemed like Kadabra was the true trainer.

Nayla trembled with excitement.

She never thought, even after death, she could travel like the living. Though she'd never grow up, she could still feel alive again.

And hearing of other spirits across the world made her resolve:

"I want to meet them!"

The departed, curious about the departed. She wanted their stories.

"That's good. But beware the envoys of the afterlife—Dusknoir."

Still, even if taken to the afterlife, ghosts often slipped back. If they were obedient, Dusknoir wouldn't be working overtime.

Hikaru whispered:

"If you catch a Dusknoir, it might even pull strings to let you visit your parents in the spirit world. Connections matter."

"Nayla… you're leaving?"

Granny Wind looked on warmly. To her, Nayla was like a granddaughter.

"Yes! Even though I died, I can still live on as a soul. I'll travel with Kadabra and these children!"

"I want to be a Pokémon Trainer!"

Skyla smiled. "When you're strong enough, challenge my Gym! It'll be my first battle against a ghost trainer. I'll be waiting."

Nayla laughed.

"Skyla, wait for me. When I'm stronger, I'll come—and this time, I'll win!"

Shauntal stroked her hair. "And visit me too."

Nayla nodded. She felt close to this bespectacled big sister—after all, both were Ghost trainers.

"And…" She bowed deeply to Hikaru.

"Thank you. Truly! Let's meet again someday—and battle!"

[Bond with the ghost girl Nayla greatly deepened!]

Nayla and her Pokémon left the lonely house. No ghosts remained inside.

"A perfect ending. Wonderful!"

The sorrow had been soothed. As they left the Stranger's House, the air felt lighter.

"What an incredible experience! I've gathered so much material!" Shauntal beamed. "I need to hurry back to the League and write. If I don't, these feelings will fade."

"It's not over yet." Hikaru chuckled, glancing at Granny Wind. "Next, I'll study volcanic pottery. We'll need volcanic clay from Reversal Mountain."

"You truly freed Nayla, even gave her a new life. I'm grateful." Granny Wind smiled. "You are indeed gifted, traveler."

"Not at all. I still have much to learn."

"Then I will teach you the craft of volcanic pottery," she said. "But you must bring me volcanic clay from Reversal Mountain. The volcano erupts often now, it's too dangerous for me."

"Be careful. Some say a Legendary Pokémon dwells within. Terrible roars have been heard."

The Stranger's House was near the mountain's entrance. Hikaru decided to go at once, but first asked Skyla about paths to Undella Town.

"Nope," Skyla shook her head. "Reversal Mountain has no road to Undella. The League planned to redevelop it for tourism, but not yet."

"So if you want to go to Undella—you'll need to fly."

Hikaru considered. The Abyssal Ruins challenge would be hard, and Plasma would surely go there. But even in the original, they never solved it.

"No. I'll head to Opelucid City first."

Finding the time machine there came first. Then he could face Kyurem at the Giant Chasm, then the Abyssal Ruins, looping back to Black Tower to complete Unova's trials.

Undella would be the last stop.

Shauntal was eager for more material. Skyla, after seeing the Lunar Wing, wanted to witness another Legendary.

"Feels like traveling with Professor Rowan—no, Cedric Juniper!"

Skyla grumbled about Cedric Juniper, who freeloaded flights for research, sometimes roping her in.

"I used to think research was boring. Now, not at all."

"Legendary Pokémon make it exciting," Shauntal smirked. "Traveling with you, Hikaru, is like meeting them wholesale. Ordinary Pokémon studies must feel dull."

"I only like Flying-types," Skyla insisted.

Reversal Mountain brimmed with lava and steam. No road, no trainers.

Powerful wild Pokémon roamed, but Hikaru's sunlight powers cleared a safe path.

"Volcanic clay lies deep inside. Let me help," Skyla said.

"It's hot… but Psychic powers sure make it easier!"

With her aid, they found red-hot clay glowing like magma.

Hikaru kneaded it, sensing its heat.

[Item: Volcanic Clay (Fire Mud)]

[Description: Clay used in volcanic pottery. Formed by reactions of magma and earth. Some Pokémon like it as food. Mainly silica and alumina from volcanic rock. Reversal Mountain shares geology with Sinnoh's Mt. Coronet.]

[Effect: Boosts Fire, Steel, and Ground affinity. Helps training and growth.]

[With Giant's Heart, can forge "Volcano Keystone."]

"Magma clay?" Hikaru mused, crafting by hand. Oddly, Pokémon-world magma emitted no toxic gas, letting people approach safely.

He shaped the clay into a cube—purely aesthetic.

"Mix clay, ash, igneous rock. Bathe it in magma."

Using Deoxys' psychic power, he lowered it into the lava. Light flared.

[Item: Volcano Keystone!]

[Description: Rock forged by magma, a natural treasure containing lava within. Boosts Fire-types. Can summon Heatran.]

[Deoxys completed a task! Gained experience and growth.]

[New Knowledge: Mental Fusion—adaptability increased, slight resistance to electromagnetic waves.]

[Deoxys learned Fire Punch!]

"If the same method works with Orbs… I could forge a Flame Orb. But I need 'Broken Armor of Merit'—or… Celebration Armor? Where can I even find that antique? Auction house?"

He crafted more keystones, amazing Skyla and Shauntal.

"This treasure… the Volcano Keystone! You mean it can be made?!"

"I'm a craftsman. Nothing I can't make." Hikaru grinned.

Deep within the mountain—

A massive four-legged Pokémon stirred. It had sensed the keystone's aura.

Its keystone was missing! But now many had appeared?!

Heatran was baffled. To it, the keystone wasn't just power—it was food.

A banquet? In bulk? Impossible!

But it mattered not. The keystone was here.

Its steel body clattered against the walls as it scuttled rapidly toward Hikaru.

And just as Hikaru noticed something coming—

Heatran loomed before him!
