Chapter 266 - Chapter 266

>>>[New Fanfic Is Up!!!]<<<

>>>[Red Dragon Emperor With The Villain System!]<<<

In the Pokémon world, battles are the mainstream, but they're not everything. Just like Johto has its long-standing Pokémon Contest Festival, even the Unova region—despite its focus on battling—still offers various secondary competitions and musical events.

The Pokémon Musical is one such event, akin to a version of Super Contests with the acting judgment removed. Contestants dress up their Pokémon and perform synchronized dances on stage. In the anime, the Musical is portrayed more loosely, focusing on showing personal style and flair.

In the games, the number of tracks that can be performed is limited. However, in reality, BW Entertainment Company has an abundance of scripts—like stars in the sky—ensuring that even beginner musicians can find pieces that suit them. They even provide professional accompanists.

Hikaru recalled the two musicians from Accumula Town; they used to work for BW Entertainment in this exact role.

Still, there's one small limitation to Pokémon Musicals: large-sized Pokémon can't perform on stage.

Naturally, the one to perform this time was Lilligant—or rather, she insisted on performing the moment she heard about it!

She was thrilled to be able to share her dance with a wider audience!

Though Riolu would be more suited in size, the blue-haired pup seemed nervous about this "musical." Despite showing no fear during battle performances on stage, he now appeared flustered by something outside of combat.

"I mean… I'm a battle-loving good boy. This performance stuff…"

"Ah! Riolu, so kawaii!"

Lacey snuggled up against Riolu. The little blue pup wanted to push her away, but since she was a girl, he decided to let it slide.

If it were someone like that weirdo Burgh, though, no way he'd allow it.

In the dressing room, Hikaru worked on tailoring an outfit for Lilligant, while Lacey and N kept their eyes glued to the incubator. The egg inside had started moving, drawing even Elesa's attention.

"What kind of Pokémon will hatch, I wonder?"

"It seems to be of a rare typing…" N could faintly sense the heart of the Pokémon inside. Though still hazy, one thing was certain—it wasn't a common sight in Unova.

Under the gaze of so many expectant eyes, the egg burst into a radiant glow. Simultaneously, a miniature statue buried deep in Hikaru's backpack—an Arceus figurine—began to glow faintly as well, though no one noticed.

With Arceus silently watching over, the egg hatched—not a Shiny, but still…

"Mafa!"

With a soft, squishy sound, a 6IV Milcery—like a dollop of cream—entered the world!

"Huh? I've never seen this Pokémon before!"

Even N was puzzled, but Lacey's eyes sparkled with joy. Soft, creamy, and absolutely adorable!

"That's Milcery, a Fairy-type Pokémon," Hikaru explained. "You wouldn't find it here in Unova. It's originally from Galar."

So then, the professor who handed that egg to Boss Clay must've been… Professor Magnolia of Galar? Definitely not Sonia.

"Fairy-type…?" N echoed.

"Oh! So it's a Fairy-type!" Elesa exclaimed.

"Fairy-type wasn't recognized until recently. Years ago, this type didn't even exist—many Fairy Pokémon were classified as Normal. But once we discovered their unique moves, the Fairy-type was confirmed."

"In Unova, the only true Fairy-types are Cottonee and Whimsicott. So it's quite rare around here… though to be fair, they are fairly common in the forests."

N's eyes gleamed with curiosity.

Since Fairy-types were nearly unheard of in Unova, not even someone like N had seen one. Even wild Whimsicott didn't seem to see themselves as Fairy-types—they simply had no concept of the classification.

N had long detested the way professors imposed arbitrary categories on Pokémon. But now, seeing an unknown type in person… he started to wonder if such research had value after all.

"Milcery evolves into a Pokémon called Alcremie," Hikaru said. "There are reportedly 64 different color forms. From its appearance, it's like a cream-based ice cream, but very different from the Vanillite family we have here in Unova."

In the games, Milcery doesn't evolve via leveling. Instead, it evolves when spun with a Sweet item. Hikaru couldn't help but wonder—how would this work in reality?

Thinking about it, the Alcremie Lacey had during her time at Blueberry Academy was probably this very one.

"Its Ability is Sweet Veil. It prevents itself and allies from falling asleep."

Lacey tilted her head. "Eh? Hikaru-oniichan, you sure know a lot about this Pokémon."

"It's just a little secret of mine. Well, I do know quite a bit about a lot of Pokémon."

Hikaru pulled out his Pokédex. N's gaze froze momentarily, but this time he didn't say anything.

In every iteration of canon—games, manga, anime—N notoriously hated the Pokédex. But now, seemingly undergoing character correction, he was holding back.

If even someone like N could suppress his disdain… it meant he was starting to change.

After all—without the Pokédex and researchers—how could ordinary people understand rare Pokémon like this one?

Research is essential. It's how humanity comes to know nature and life itself.

N was beginning to realize that while many have special powers, most people are just ordinary—and the Pokédex was made for them. For people without his abilities, it was a beacon.

"Let's record the moves it knows. N, will you do the honors?"

Hikaru handed the Pokédex to N, inviting him to make the first entry. N hesitated, lowered his cap, and thought.

A first time for everything.

He accepted it, using his ability to speak to Pokémon, and began communicating with Milcery. It had imprinted on Lacey, its first sight after hatching, and was close to her.

But when N began speaking into its mind, Milcery flinched in surprise. Understandable—having a human talk inside your head right after birth is a bit much!

Still, everything starts somewhere.

N calmed her down, and Milcery gradually became curious. It happily chatted with N and even began showing off its moves.

Blessed by Arceus, its stats were extremely high, and it soon demonstrated its first eye-catching move—

Sweet Kiss!

A kiss as cute as an angel's, causing confusion in the opponent!

It landed perfectly on Lacey, sending her spinning into a daze!

Thankfully, Elesa and N intervened before she could hurt herself. Once she snapped out of it, Lacey squealed with delight.

"Wow! You already know Sweet Kiss!"

"Mafa~" Milcery beamed, not really understanding why Lacey was so happy, but happy because she was.

Elesa explained to N, "Sweet Kiss used to be classified as a Normal move. But after the Fairy-type was introduced, researchers reclassified it. So Milcery knowing it from birth pretty much confirms that theory!"

N nodded, recording everything. A strange emotion welled up inside him.

He had always loathed machines. But now, this device—it felt like a door to a new world. A novel sensation he'd never experienced.

"So this is what Pokédex holders feel… This is what professors feel when they study Pokémon…"

"To become a professor, huh…"

A curious thought—could he become a professor? He who could speak with Pokémon?

Hikaru, overhearing, thought: Professor N?

What would his starter be?

Darmanitan, Swoobat, Zorua?

Or maybe… Reshiram, Zekrom, Kyurem?

Now that would be interesting.

"All done!" Hikaru announced.

Lilligant's outfit was complete.

He had combined his recent talents in Line Art and Color Art to overhaul the default BW Entertainment costume, creating a visually stunning ensemble.

[Effect 2: Enhances "Victory Dance" move—raising its stat boosts from one stage to two, with longer duration.]

"Dorerei~!" Lilligant found the outfit perfect. It didn't hinder her kicks or dance at all.

In the Pokémon Musical, it's crucial to hold props that dazzle under the spotlight. Inspired by the Champion's outfit from Pokémon Masters EX and the goddess Athena, Hikaru naturally equipped her with a spear and Aegis-like shield!

With a few modifications, the props gleamed gold and silver—Lilligant held them proudly in her leafy hands!

"Dorerei~" She was confident in her dance! Time to win them over with Victory Dance!

But what message did she want to convey…?

"Don't worry. You can choose that yourself," Hikaru said. "This is your performance. Have fun!"

The side task from the Link Tree didn't matter—music knowledge would come regardless. This was her moment.

He still remembered what that staffer at Nimbasa said when shooing away Team Plasma:

"Just let the Pokémon enjoy themselves!"

He couldn't agree more.

Lilligant felt both joyful and a bit troubled. She wanted to dance but didn't understand the songs—Hikaru only knew Ancient Song, which didn't quite match her vibe.

N sensed her confusion and tried to help—only for Aegislash to pop out of its Poké Ball.

Aegislash began flipping through the sheet music and humming ancient melodies—rhythms full of age and gravitas.

"Wait—you weren't in some royal orchestra, were you?"

"Guheh (who knows)"

Aegislash could read modern text, shocking even N and Elesa.

"My Aegislash learned to read while trying to access certain books… let's just say it picked it up quickly."

He didn't mention it had learned to read just to argue online.

"I'll help too!" Elesa joined in. She softly hummed the melodies until Lilligant picked one. Everyone smiled.

The musical world was opening up to both humans and Pokémon. There's no fixed formula for performance—so long as the Pokémon is happy, the music will always resonate!

Lacey held Milcery in her arms. N placed the trophy on a stand in the dressing room. They all headed to the audience, while Hikaru took over as musician, and Elesa as host.

With fantastical, joyful, and dreamlike music playing… the Pokémon Musical officially began!

As people watched alongside their Pokémon, joy filled the hall. And soon, it was Lilligant's solo performance!

Despite dancing alone, she was fearless. The music—solemn and stirring—commanded full attention as the "Goddess of Victory" danced against invisible foes.

When triumph was won, her grace seized the crowd's gaze. When the music turned mournful, as if saying farewell to an unseen loved one, sadness filled the hall.

Melodies that bring joy… and those that bring tears. At the climax, when the goddess reunited with her unseen companion, a single clap rang out—

Then thunderous applause!

The curtain fell, but the performance was etched into the hearts of all.

"That was incredible! Best musical I've ever seen!"

"Wait… wasn't that the same Pokémon from today's battle fashion show? Then that must mean—this was the work of that genius artist!"

"I knew he knew Elesa! He's even here at the theater! But seriously… what a phenomenal performance! An invisible monster? An unseen lover? A lost family member?"

"I've never heard that song before… the way it blends sorrow and triumph. The performer must be top-tier too!"

Even N was moved. Lacey was starstruck. The event organizer personally found Hikaru to express his awe and hinted at a desire for encore performances.

"I felt like I was in sync with that Pokémon… We laughed together, cried together… was it the music? The dance? Both? She was mesmerizing!"

"A dreamlike performance! Her photo will be hung in the main hall for sure!"

But Hikaru had other responsibilities. He politely declined, promising to return someday if given the chance.

"A genius like you… we cannot coerce. And our offers are beneath you… There's no helping it."

"Thankfully we recorded everything. But for those who didn't come today—they'll never see this dreamlike show again!"

"Which makes us… the lucky ones! The Goddess of Victory brings both triumph and good fortune!"

The host sighed in both gratitude and regret, already planning to rewatch the footage. Hikaru, meanwhile, gained new musical knowledge—plus a new score: "Return of the Hero."
