These creatures, who feared sunlight and lived nocturnally, were once the sworn enemies of humanity. Their favorite activity was drinking human blood, typically done by baring fangs at the neck and then pursing their lips to suck deeply.
Besides feeding, they sometimes did this for another purpose: to recruit more members, turning ordinary humans into members of the Vampires.
This process was called the "Embrace."
