Chapter 13 - Guilty and Shy

Tristan looked like a deer caught in the headlights as his doe eyes widened. The expression was a little comical on the small face. His eyes seemed a little too big, almost like a cartoon character.

Then, he quickly turned his head away from Alistair as if he was guilty of something.

Even if he were capable of subtlety, he would not have been able to hide his feelings of guilt from Alistair. The man would not be called the devil if he were not able to sense emotions, especially dark ones.

Of course, Alistair noticed the unusual behaviour immediately.

But he could not understand what Tristan would have to feel guilty about, especially when his statement was innocuous by all standards. Could it be that there was a secret about Tristan's existence beyond what he had guessed?

It was a possibility.

After all, there had to be a good reason why He isolated him in the Garden of Life.

When Alistair thought a little more about it, he felt that he was indeed right. So far, Tristan had not behaved like a typical angel, fallen or not. He seemed to have too much humanity for someone who was freshly out of heaven.

Not to mention, he still inexplicably had divine light…

Alistair felt like he was on the verge of a big discovery.

However, before he could think deeper…

"I am hungry," Tristan said suddenly.

The sudden change of topic confirmed that Tristan was hiding something. It also revealed new information to Alistair. Angels ate food both in heaven and on earth, but it was not typical for them to feel hungry.

They could survive long periods with little to no nourishment. The sensation of hunger was uncommon. Still, it proved nothing because Tristan could have been starved for a long time. It was just speculation.

Alistair stepped away from Tristan.

"What do you want to eat?" Alistair asked before walking to pick up his phone from the coffee table.

The movement caused the towel to slip lower around his waist, exposing more skin. Tristan quickly looked away, afraid of seeing more than he should. Still, when Alistair turned around, he noticed the red face.

He chuckled lightly at how cute this angel was in his peculiarities.

Angels were not physical beings and did not engage in carnal acts before humans came to be. It could be said that the existence of humans caused angels to awaken in their feelings and desire to know that connection.

Those who fell from heaven alongside Alistair abstained for a long time since their first motivation was the downfall of humankind. Of course, over time, most of them abandoned that path and even found what they called love.

However, the angels that fell in the Second Rebellion truly desired to experience the ways of man and their carnality. Alistair always found it absurd and even a little disgusting when he thought of intimate contact.

But now…

He understood.

Still, he was a little surprised about Tristan because his reactions were so human. It did not make sense, especially if he had been isolated from angels and humans throughout his existence.

Under normal circumstances, he should be clueless if he did not understand the world. However, apart from the innocence that seemed to radiate from the divine light, he seemed to be almost normal.

Like a human…

Otherwise, he would not be embarrassed about his nakedness.

"Are you going to order from the phone?" Tristan asked with twinkling eyes.

"It is too late to go outside," Alistair replied before deciding to test him. "Do you know how to use it?"

"Yeah," Tristan jumped off the counter.

Alistair handed over the phone and watched as the bright angel tapped on it. There was a feeling of novelty from Tristan, but he did not seem confused about how to use the phone and even found the app Alistair usually used.

"You know He hated smartphones so much," Tristan laughed, but there was a hint of nostalgia in his voice. "When they were made, He thought they would bring humans closer. Then, the devices advanced, and He realised they took away almost all interactions."

"Did He talk with you a lot?" Alistair asked.

He was curious, but he was also worried that asking direct questions would cause Tristan to change the subject again. He could only use leading questions that Tristan would not perceive as interrogation.

"Mmmhh, I guess he did not have anyone to really talk to," Tristan pursed his plump, pink lips slightly while still tapping on the phone with an intrigued expression. "You know, He used to talk about you sometimes. That is how I know about you."

Alistair was genuinely surprised by the words.

It was unexpected.

He thought he would never be mentioned again after initiating the fall of a third of the angels and rejecting His will. He did not mind being forgotten, but he was pleased to hear that Tristan knew of him.

The thought of Tristan knowing him even before they met was quite tantalising. He could not resist teasing Tristan a little as he adjusted his towel. Moreover, he did not want to talk about Him.

Alistair felt like the mention of Him would create a wall between him and Tristan. It was obvious Tristan was a close confidante to Him. The thought seemed to ignite unwarranted anger in him.

In his twisted mind, Tristan should not have known anyone but Alistair.

Not even his creator…

"How do I compare to your expectations?" Alistair asked with a wicked smile.

Tristan looked up and was met with a wall of muscled flesh. The skin was tanned and seemed to radiate heat. The angel stumbled backwards in shock and shyness, almost falling over.

Alistair caught him and pulled him against his body.

Tristan felt like he was about to go up in flames, both from embarrassment and something else he could not put a finger on. That unknown feeling became a little more intense as he felt every hard muscle on that body.

He panicked at the strange sensation of being touched again. It was foreign, but every part of him loved it. He could not explain it because he had never been touched before he met Alistair.
