Chapter 24 - Chapter 24: The Palace confrontation

As Iras and Hylos achieved a remarkable rating at the Pyramids of Giza, they were met with a grand reception by rabik entourage. However, Hylos's stubbornness was on full display as he sat sulking inside the carriage, refusing to disembark. Iras's patience wore thin, and he swiftly lifted Hylos out of the carriage, carrying him towards the grand gates of rabik's palace. Hylos fiercely struggled and shouted, "Put me down, Iras! Have you no shame?" His voice echoed with anger, but Iras remained resolute, ignoring his protests as he continued her determined stride.

The guards parted, allowing Iras to carry the irate Hylos into the palace. The scene unfolded like a dramatic spectacle, with Hylos's anger and humiliation evident in every squirm and shout, while Iras's determination and frustration propelled her forward, unyielding to Hylos's demands. The palace gates closed behind them, setting the stage for a confrontation that would change the dynamics of their relationship forever.

*A Royal Confrontation*

Hylos squirmed on Iras's shoulder, demanding to be put down. "Let me down, Iras!" he growled, his voice laced with irritation. Meanwhile, Rabik and Ajah were caught off guard, their lips parting as they were spotted by Iras and Hylos. Rabik's face flushed with embarrassment, while Ajah seemed nonchalant. As Iras set Hylos down, he hastened to Ajah's side, his voice low and urgent. "What are you doing here? And what was that I just saw? You're supposed to be in the Valley of Kings 'Ajah, Lord of Giza." Ajah's response was laced with amusement. "Just falling in love, Your Majesty," he said with a smirk, leaving Hylos's scowl unaltered. Ajah continued, his tone teasing. "And who might this be? Why aren't you in the Valley of Kings, now that you're king?" Hylos's expression darkened, his eyes narrowing slightly as he replied, while Ajah's gaze sparkled with mirth.

*The Unforgotten Bond*

Hylos's anger flared as he snapped at Ajah, "That man kidnapped me!" Rabik's face darkened, and he retorted, his voice laced with indignation, "What kidnapping? He did what was right, since you're still his husband, and you know it, King Hylos." Hylos's eyes widened in shock, his mind reeling as he realized he had forgotten his marital bond with Iras remained intact despite his kingship. Iras's gaze lingered on Hylos before she spoke, her tone firm and commanding. "Go to your designated chambers; from now on, you'll reside here. Put your kingship aside for now." With that, Iras turned her back on Hylos and walked away, leaving him stunned and speechless. The weight of his forgotten obligations settled heavily upon him, and for a moment, he was lost for words.

*Midnight Revelations*

Hylos was escorted to his chambers by Rabik's attendants. He collapsed onto the large bed, exhausted, his mind replaying his tumultuous relationship with Iras. Despite their prolonged separation, he was still her husband, and the weight of that bond lingered. He couldn't shake off the feeling of anger and hurt, unsure if he still had feelings for him.

In the grand hall of Rabik's palace, Iras and Rabik sat engrossed in conversation. Unbeknownst to them, Hylos emerged from the shadows, standing at the periphery as they continued their discussion. Rabik's voice carried through the air, "I wish you had let Hylos meet his demise in his own palace." Iras's response was barely audible, her head bowed in contemplation. "Even if he no longer desires me, I'll protect him as his husband." Her words were laced with a tinge of sadness. Hylos's presence went unnoticed, but his heart skipped a beat as he absorbed Iras's words. For a moment, he stood frozen, then turned and retreated back to his chambers, his emotions in turmoil.

*A Fleeting Moment*

As dawn broke, Iras entered Hylos's chamber to inform him that it was time to eat. However, she was taken aback to find him missing from the bed. A surge of anxiety prompted her to rush out of the room, fearing he might be attempting to escape again. But as she stepped out into the courtyard, he spotted Hylos standing in Rabik's grand garden. He was bathed in the morning light, clad in golden attire that accentuated his physique, and his eyes shone like gold as he gazed at the flowers with an air of quiet contentment. Iras's heart skipped a beat at the sight, and he felt her long-held feelings for Hylos stir once more, despite his apparent disinterest in him. The moment hung suspended, filled with unspoken emotions and unresolved tensions between them.

Iras approached Hylos, her voice soft and gentle. "Would you like me to bring some flowers to your chamber?" Hylos stood with his back to her for a moment before turning to face her, his eyes locking onto him with a hint of sadness. "I don't need flowers," he said, his tone serious and his gaze piercing. Iras's eyes met his, and he asked, her voice barely above a whisper, "Are you still angry with me?" The air was charged with tension as they stood face to face, the unspoken emotions between them hanging precariously in the balance. But Hylos still silent' until a moment he replied with low voice,'"." I don't know,".

*A Night of Tensions*

As night fell, the palace of Rabik was abuzz with celebration, marking the arrival of his friend, Duke Argus of the Pyramids of Giza, and a childhood friend of Iras. The two friends, Rabik and Argus, exchanged warm greetings, while Iras stood by, her face lighting up as Argus swept her into a warm hug. He reciprocated, happy to be reunited with her old friend.

Meanwhile, Hylos remained in his chamber, feeling restless and uninterested in joining the festivities. He feared Iras might misconstrue his presence as a desire to linger. However, after a while, he decided to step out for some fresh air. As he entered the grand hall, he spotted Iras laughing and chatting with Argus. But what caught his attention was Argus's arm wrapped around Iras's shoulders, a gesture that seemed to stir a sudden surge of irritation within him.

Without hesitation, Hylos strode over, his long strides eating up the distance. He grasped Iras's arm, pulling her away from Argus's embrace. The room fell silent, shocked by Hylos's sudden appearance. He was dressed in a white attire that accentuated his physique, and his eyes blazed with a fierce intensity.

Argus, taken aback by Hylos's glare, demanded, "Who are you, and why are you holding General Iras?" Hylos's response was immediate, his voice low and possessive. "I'm her husband. Keep your filthy hands off him." The tension in the room escalated, fueled by Hylos's anger and Argus's confusion.
