Cain's laughter still echoed in the courtyard when Fu Ling shook his head, lips curving faintly. "Wherever I go, you'll follow, hm? Then let's see if you can keep up."
And so they went. After making sure everything has settled down, they packed up and left without telling anyone.
Their first stop was the southern deserts, where the sand stretched endless under suns that burned like fire. Gold-sanded dunes stretched endlessly, palaces glittered with sunlit domes, and caravans sang with bells as camels carried spices and silks across the burning earth.
The people there built cities carved into the sides of cliffs but others preferred the cool caverns deep beneath the dunes.
Fu Ling, in turn, found himself charmed by the markets that smelled of spice and smoke, the dancers who spun under moonlight with silver bells tied to their ankles, the stories told around great bonfires of heroes who rode beasts across the sands.
