"Brady, stop. Please."
He looked up at the sky, as if pleading with the heavens.
"It was that picture. That stupid picture. When you asked me on the airplane to show you that photo, I should've known it was a bad idea. Goddess, how could I have been so stupid?!"
"It wasn't just the picture!" I exclaimed. "Yes, the picture helped me piece things together. But it wasn't just that. It was the places you took me… the things you wanted to do together… the restaurants we went to. They were all things you used to do with Evelyn."
Brady stared at me, stunned. "I never gave you any details about what it was like to date Evelyn."
"No, not directly. Not on the plane. But whenever we went somewhere, you'd bring her up subtly. You never said her name, so at first I didn't know if you were talking about one woman, or several, or maybe just friends. But somehow… some way… you always brought something up.
