The next day, Councillor Honest was seen carrying the uniform he had worn during the plan's execution the previous day. He walked quickly, trying to appear casual, though the stiffness in his movements betrayed him.
From his chamber window, Mathew Sterrn caught sight of him. Without hesitation, he ran to the front yard, calling out, "Wait up!"
Councillor Honest stopped abruptly. "Mathew?"
Mathew took a moment to catch his breath. "I've been wanting to see you," he said, still bent slightly forward.
Honest's eyes narrowed. "Alright. What for?"
"It's about Commander Robert," Mathew replied, his voice steady now.
The shift in Honest's expression was immediate. He glanced around, making sure no one was within earshot. "What about him?"
"Do you really think the King actually sent him to the Northern regions?"
"We all saw it," Honest snapped quickly, shuffling the blood-stained clothes under his arm. "Didn't we?"
