Jin read the notification twice and frowned at it.
Allies didn't just appear inside his territory. Anyone coming in would have to cross the forest first, and the watch would have seen them long before the system did. Nobody had sent word that they were coming. Ryu's crew wasn't due for another week.
He closed the window and started walking back toward the school a little faster than before.
By the time he came out of the trees, he could hear voices in the front yard. One of them was loud enough that he didn't need to guess.
Ryu was standing in the middle of the yard with his hands on his hips, turning in a slow circle and staring up at the trees like a tourist. Commander Seo Yewon stood beside him in a clean dark jacket, looking around more quietly, but just as closely. A few steps behind them, Jiho was crouched by one of the big roots that had pushed up through the old asphalt near the gate, poking at it with one finger. One of his rings was still glowing faintly on his hand.
