He came out from the little door behind the statue as the last of the crowd drifted out of the church, walked straight down the aisle to where Jin was standing, and bowed. Then he turned and walked back the way he'd come, and Jin understood that he was meant to follow, so he did.
The little door behind the statue opened onto a narrow stone corridor, cool and dim, lit by small windows set high in the wall. It ran along the back of the church and out the other side, into a long covered walkway with wooden pillars and a curved tiled roof. On one side of it was the grey stone of the church. On the other was a garden.
