Chapter 158 - Demon King!!!

"It really does feel pretty good. If not for you, I don't know how long I'd have been stuck inside. So, this time, I'll let you keep your pathetic little life." Coldly sneering at the massive crater in the wall, Tohka spoke in a voice completely different from usual.

And at that moment, the Sandalphon, which had looked like a greatsword, had somehow transformed into a massive cleaver-like weapon—Camael. At the same time, the blue-violet armor covering her whole body turned pitch black.

Also, maybe because of Tohka's influence, this time the armor wasn't as revealing as in the original story—at least it still covered her decently.

"Um, Tohka…are you alright?" Just then, Miku Izayoi spoke in a trembling voice. She couldn't help it—right now, Tohka not only sounded and looked different, but her entire aura had changed.

Before, whether she wore her Spirit Dress or not, Tohka always gave people a calm, gentle impression. But at this moment, she exuded nothing but raw ferocity.

So even though they'd always been close and playful, right now Miku didn't dare go near her. The feeling Tohka gave off was simply too terrifying.

"Hm?" Frowning, the Inverse Tohka—or rather, the Demon King Tohka—looked at Miku.

Even in this state, she still recognized the girl in front of her. Although she'd been inside Tohka's body all this time, thanks to the power of the Kabbalah Tree of Life she could occasionally perceive what was happening outside.

That was why she hadn't immediately gone on a rampage. Of course, even so, she had no intention of showing Miku any warmth.

But just then, the noise outside reached her ears. Screams, cries, and explosions all mixed together.

"What the hell is all that racket?" Irritated by the sounds, Demon King Tohka walked out. She didn't spare Miku another glance, striding onto Tony's helipad and looking out over New York.

"Hm? Where did these things come from?"

As soon as she stepped outside, several energy blasts flew at her. She casually raised a barrier to block them and then frowned deeply at the sky full of Chitauri soldiers. Their twisted, grotesque faces only made her scowl harder.

"Disgusting creatures. Where the hell did they crawl out of?"

Whatever else could be said about Demon King Tohka, she was not the type to get attacked and do nothing.

Last time, she'd only appeared to bail Tohka out and hadn't gotten the chance to really cut loose. Now that she was here, she fully intended to vent herself. Perfect timing… With that thought, she turned her gaze toward the massive wormhole overhead.

"End of the World Sword—Pverschlev!"

A black throne descended from the sky and immediately shattered into pieces. The fragments fused with her Camael, transforming it into a colossal cleaver over ten meters long.

"Wa hahaha!"

With a queen's triumphant laugh, Demon King Tohka swung her weapon at the portal in the sky. Instantly, a blade wave over a kilometer long erupted over New York, roaring straight toward the wormhole.

Everywhere the black slash passed, the Chitauri army's equipment exploded in spectacular chain reactions. From a distance, it looked as if fireworks were going off beneath the sweeping arc of darkness.

At the same time, one of the enormous leviathan-like ships had just emerged, only to be bisected cleanly by the strike. The sword wave kept going without slowing, plunging into the wormhole and triggering a massive explosion.

As the attack landed, the entire city of New York fell silent. Whether it was the hideous Chitauri soldiers or Iron Man and Captain America, who were racing toward the scene, everyone stared in slack-jawed shock.

"Uh…was that Tohka's attack?"

Even Spider-Man, who knew her best, sounded uncertain. He knew Tohka's power was immense, but this was on a whole other level. If that blast had struck Manhattan itself, it might have sent the entire borough sliding into the ocean. She was basically a walking nuclear bomb.

"That…probably wasn't her usual self." Watching the scene, Tony also sounded unsure.

He'd seen Tohka fight at full power before—while it was terrifying, it had never been this extreme. Incidentally, thanks to having more backup this time, Tony wasn't as badly battered as in the original story—his armor hadn't taken too much damage yet.

"Alright—let's get over there quickly." Glancing at the display of New York, Captain America kept urging them on. Whatever else could be said about the attack, it clearly hadn't caused any harm to civilians.

Meanwhile, within New York, the Chitauri forces had all frozen mid-attack. Every soldier turned their weapons toward Demon King Tohka standing atop the tower, glaring down at them. But for a moment, none dared fire—they only stared in horror. Then, as if receiving an order, they all opened fire at once.

Above, after a half-minute pause, more Chitauri soldiers began pouring from the wormhole again.

"Hmph, not completely brainless, I see." Narrowing her eyes and sneering at them, Demon King Tohka stepped off the helipad and leapt straight down. She plunged into the densest cluster of Chitauri soldiers below, triggering a new wave of thunderous explosions.

"Wa hahaha—come on, keep coming!" She had to admit, maybe she'd been bottled up in Tohka's body for too long.

Now that she was free, Demon King Tohka was determined to let loose—every sweep of her sword sent explosions ripping through the ranks. All the Chitauri soldiers charged at her desperately, heedless of death.

Above New York, it looked like fireworks going off nonstop. Chitauri bodies rained down like a grisly hailstorm, while terrified civilians scrambled to avoid the falling debris.

"Tch, this is getting tedious." But before long, even Demon King Tohka grew tired of the endless swarming. She hefted her giant sword, ready to unleash a finishing strike at the Chitauri below.

"Hm? What's happening?" But at that moment, she felt her previously stable magic power start to spiral out of control. The gathering energy abruptly dispersed, forcing her to halt the attack.

An instant later, a curtain of light enveloped her. It didn't last long—but then, two nearly identical figures appeared in the sky.
