Chapter 2 - We must start searching

Maria-Cecilia asked to him about why he doesn't make "The Searching".

"I think you should start your search here in the capital," she insisted. "Look at the energy here, people are excited in anticipation of change, and they are making changes!"

Crying at Herbert, that she believed to him that he is chosen to this.

But Herbert had a different opinion, "Looks like I stand against the world," he answered somewhat absentmindedly, thinking about something.

"Yes, this is my first mission, but, but, and I could be wrong," Herbert's eyes were covered with a veil of deep thoughtfulness. "But I don't feel anything here, nothing that hasn't happened before, yes, the people are angry, but I don't feel their presence here."

"But energy! energy! it's here!"

"Yes, there is energy here, the energy of destruction, the energy of change, the energy of fear, but not what our Order is looking for."

"You only listen to yourself!" Maria-Cecilia was irritated by Herbert's behavior.

But Herbert also seemed to be in no hurry. During the day he walked around the city, along the old ancient streets, he went into secluded flower shops and stood there for a long time. Then he slept in his hotel room and went down to the bar in the evening.

He would buy a bottlie of whiskey, turned on the jukebox, and choose "Jazz Late Night Lounge tracks". For some reason, he liked jazz from the 1950s, there was something inexplicable about this music that attracted him. He usually lit a cigar, do you think only old senators and businessmen like cigars? And he leisurely enjoyed slow jazz, as if he were going to the astral world, thinking about something.

"Stop daydreaming!" Maria-Cecilia's patience finally snapped one day. And she could be understood. The young sergeant of the Order sits in the evenings thinking about something, drinking whiskey, at whose expense?

"If you think the place to search is in the East, here's a ticket to the city (in the west of one eastern province, the train didn't go any further, the separatists set up outposts)."

"Why did you decide that it was in the east?" Herbert was surprised, then remembered that he seemed to have said something like that but then forgot about it.
