Arthur stepped out of the swirling shadow portal and onto the cracked sidewalk of Gotham. The night air here always smelled faintly of rain, exhaust, and something metallic. He adjusted his coat, glanced once at the alley behind him… then pulled out his phone.

He scrolled to a number labeled simply

D. Prince

The line rang once.

Twice.

Then

"Arthur."

Wonder Woman's voice, warm and composed, with that touch of regal expectation. "I was beginning to wonder if you intended to call at all."

Arthur smirked faintly, walking past a flickering neon sign and the distant echo of police sirens.

"I told you I'd contact you when things settled."

"And did they?" Diana asked, almost knowingly.

Arthur sighed. "Well… I just finished fighting an immortal bounty hunter who got hired to kill me. Also spent a night partying on a distant world with a drunk Kryptonian. So technically? Yes. Things settled."

There was a moment of silence.

Then

"…That was a joke. I assume." Diana's tone wavered between amusement and disbelief.

Arthur walked under a streetlamp, its light bending slightly around him.

"I wish it was."

She exhaled somewhere between a laugh and a sigh.

"You truly attract the strangest circumstances, Arthur Blackwynd. You even attracted the eyes of the gods."

"Not on purpose," he muttered.

"Of course," she replied dryly.

Arthur's eyes glowed faintly violet as he scanned the sky out of habit.

"So, where are you right now?"

"Athens," Diana answered. "Where else would a daughter of Themyscira prepare for a meeting with Olympus?"

Arthur hummed. "Fair."

Diana's voice softened slightly.

"Are you certain you want to go through with this? you can still take your time.. Meeting the king of the gods is not a trivial matter."

"I'm not exactly trivial myself," Arthur replied calmly. "So yes. I'm ready."

"Very well. Then come."

"Send me the exact location."

"No need," she said with a smile in her voice. "Anywhere near the Acropolis will do. I'll know the moment you arrive. Your presence is… difficult to miss."

Arthur smirked. "Same to you."

"Then I shall wait." Diana paused tone dipping into something like anticipation. "Try not to bring any immortal assassins with you.."

"No promises, they are technically part of me.." he said.

She laughed softly.

"Arthur…"

"Yes?"

"Hurry."

He closed his eyes, shadow rippling at his feet.

"Be there in a minute."

"This fast?" she teased. "Are you planning to outrun the wind?"

"No," Arthur answered, stepping into darkness as it rose around him. "I'm teleporting."

Diana's chuckle echoed through the speaker.

"Right.. I forgot you could do that, then I'll see you soon."

The call ended.

Arthur looked up at the cloudy Gotham sky one last time…

then vanished in a swirl of violet shadow

headed straight for Athens.

ATHENS -

Arthur emerged from a ripple of shadow on a narrow stone street, the warm Athens early morning replacing Gotham's grim chill late night in an instant. The scent of olive trees, open-air cafés, and distant sea breeze washed over him. Ancient columns rose in the distance, woven seamlessly into the modern sprawl of the city.

He took a few steps, hands in his pockets, taking in the shift of atmosphere lighter, slower, steeped in history older than most civilizations. People moved with ease, unaware a shadow monarch walked among them.

"Arthur."

He turned.

Diana stood behind him wearing simple jeans, a white blouse, and sunglasses that did little to hide the aura of a warrior princess. Even dressed casually, she carried herself like royalty.

Arthur gave a faint nod. "Diana."

She smiled warmly. "It's good to see you. How are you?"

"Fine," Arthur answered. "Busy. But fine."

"I imagine," she said, one brow raised as if she already knew he had been up to something absurd.

He gestured ahead. "We should get to business. Where do we go to meet your gods?"

Diana stepped beside him, motioning for him to follow. "Come. It's not far. Olympus isn't physically here on Earth."

Arthur's eyes narrowed slightly. "Explain."

"Olympus is a dimension layered beside Earth," she said as they walked past a café terrace and down a small stone alley. "Not above us, not in the sky more like… beside reality. The gods maintain gateways hidden across the world. Closed unless they choose to open one."

Arthur hummed thoughtfully. "Gateways."

"There's one in Themyscira," she continued, "one in Atlantis… and one here, in Athens."

"Interesting," Arthur said.

Diana glanced at him sidelong. "You don't seem to care.."

"I'll be honest with you, Diana," Arthur replied calmly. "I'm curious about what Zeus wants. As for the gods themselves? Their lore? Their shrine politics? I couldn't care less."

Diana chuckled softly. "I expected as much."

Arthur continued, "And knowing Zeus… I doubt this is a friendly talk. Everything I've heard paints him as someone who doesn't move unless something bothers him."

Diana's expression shifted.. she didn't deny it.

"But don't worry," she said. "It's just a summon. The gods haven't done anything like this in ages. Zeus rarely involves himself in mortal matters anymore."

Arthur stopped walking for a moment.

"That's exactly why it's suspicious. Someone who never interferes suddenly asking for a meeting?"

He looked ahead. "This isn't a normal summon."

Diana slowed, her expression flickering with doubt for a moment before she masked it.

"I have faith in them," she insisted gently. "Perhaps more than I should… but I do."

Arthur smirked. "How naïve."

She actually laughed at that.

"I'll take your side if anything unusual happens. We'll leave together if things turn.. hostile."

He shook his head, not unkindly.

"Thanks. But if something happens, I can leave on my own."

She raised a brow. "You don't trust me?"

"I do," Arthur said. "But I don't intend to drag you into whatever politics your gods want to play."

Diana placed her hands behind her back and walked forward again, her voice warm but firm.

"Arthur… you're not dragging me anywhere. If anything I'm the one dragging you there as a messenger, I chose to bring you. And I'll choose to stand with you if I must."

Arthur didn't respond, but his faint smile said he heard her as they continued walking.

They reached the Parthenon. It was morning here in Athens, tourists milled about cameras clicking, guides speaking, footsteps echoing on ancient stone. To them it was a monument, a relic.

To Diana, it was a door.

Arthur stood beside her, hands in his pockets, violet eyes taking in the worn pillars and cracked steps. "So this is where the gateway is."

"Not exactly here," Diana said, lowering her sunglasses. "Deep beneath it lies a chamber. A secret entrance used only by the Amazons and the gods." She stepped forward lightly, her posture straighter, reverent. "Once we step inside, the path will open. After that… Olympus awaits."

Arthur tilted his head, activating his enhanced vision. Immediately the Parthenon peeled back layer by layer stone, dust, earth until he saw it:

A chamber buried far below, circular, lit by something that wasn't light. It pulsed faintly.

"That's impressive," Arthur admitted. "People never found it?"

"Oh, they did," Diana smirked softly. "Archaeologists mapped these ruins many times. But the gateway only reveals itself to divine blood or those invited. To mortal eyes it's simply… eroded stone and dust."

"Convenient," Arthur said. "And fair enough."

Diana stepped toward a less crowded corner of the ruin, placing her hand against a seemingly ordinary slab.

She looked back at him.

"Arthur," she said gently, "are you ready?"

He nodded once. "Let's go."

The ground trembled just a shiver, subtle enough no tourist noticed. A seam split across the marble under their feet, revealing a narrow stairway descending into darkness.

They moved down together.

The deeper they went, the quieter the world became. No footsteps above, no distant chatter only the brushing whisper of Diana's boots and Arthur's steps.

Stone walls around them shifted subtly, carvings appearing where none had been before depictions of gods, wars, feasts, punishments. Arthur's eyes flicked over them but he said nothing.

"You've been here before," he observed.

"When I was young," Diana replied. "My mother brought me once to show me the gateway. I was not allowed to cross." She exhaled slowly. "Today will be my first time stepping into Olympus through this gateway."

Arthur raised a brow. "Your first time to go to Olympus using this one?"

"Yes," she admitted. "Even among Amazons, entry is rare."

They reached the bottom of the stairway.

Before them stood the hidden chamber Arthur had seen round, cavernous, seemingly carved out of light-colored stone. It held no torches, no lanterns, yet something glowed faintly from the walls themselves the moment they set foot here.

At the center lay a circular platform with ancient runes spiraling outward like a star.

Arthur stepped forward, examining it.

"The gateway," he murmured.

Diana nodded. "Once our feet touch the circle, Olympus will open… if the gods allow it."

Arthur's eyes narrowed faintly. "And if they don't?"

Diana smiled reassuring.

"They will. Zeus summoned you. And he isn't someone that jokes about this."

Arthur moved beside her, the shadowy aura buried deep inside him stirring with quiet caution.

"Alright," he said. "Let's see what the king of your gods wants."
