Faith's POV
"Do not disrespect her or say anything too sensitive. The witch cannot handle jokes. I tried once and it ended badly," Azil warned.
I nodded, and she slipped a small folded note into my hand.
"Give this to her. She will know what to do."
Another nod, another sigh.
Back in my room, I pulled on something warm and comfortable. The air outside had shifted, sharp and cold, and the change in weather made my chest feel heavier than usual. Azil had said the place was within walking distance, far but not impossible.
I slid the note into my pocket. My hand hesitated, then reached for the black book. I could not leave it behind. I needed to know what it really was, why it felt alive in my hands, why it terrified me yet pulled me closer every time I opened it. Maybe the witch would understand. Maybe she could help Felix.
I was not sure.
