It's been half an hour since Zoe proclaimed her triumphant words. Over that time her expression shifted—first excitement, then furrowed concentration, then sheer grit.
She'd stopped chatting with the viewers and was locked in a fierce dance with the heavy-hitter boss, Master Graves. Every time she tired, she'd pause, take a sip of water, then charge back in.
Zoe lost count of how many times she died to that relentless giant—and how often "DEATH" flashed on screen. The audience watched in awe:
"My God—Zoe's been duking it out with Master Graves for thirty minutes straight!"
"She knows every inch of that rooftop pathway!"
"You can't beat a Boss like Master Graves on your first try!"
"But Zoe's so into it—she's like a demon!!"
"Come on, come on—I almost cracked Master Graves's attack pattern!"
Zoe finally paused and spoke into her mic, voice serious: "Graves's downward slash… I need to parry at the moment his blade rebounds. It's fast, but once I nail the timing, I'll get him!"
Back into the attic she crept, dispatched the three opening guards with clean strikes, then faced Master Graves again.
"You dare enter my domain, wolf?!" Graves bellowed—and once more swung his massive cleaver.
Zoe held her ground, eyes locked on the arc of his blade overhead.
This was the moment.
She thrust her own sword—you could hear the clash of steel:
—CLANG—A spark flew. She'd blocked Graves's axe, sending him off balance. Quick as lightning, she countered with a slash of her own!
Graves stumbled back, bleeding—but he pressed on, bringing his axe around again. Zoe raised her sword, parried:
—CLANG—twice more—CLANG—and he wobbled.
With his stance bar full, Graves staggered to one knee—and a red kill-dot appeared on his chest.
[One-Hit Kill Available]
Zoe didn't hesitate. She launched into a somatosensory-assisted knee strike, knocking Graves flat, then plunged her blade into his throat.
"RAAAH!!" Graves screamed, his health bar vanishing in an instant.
"I did it!!!" Zoe cheered. The suit's holo-aura lifted her into a victory spin. "Friends, I finally conquered Master Graves! How cool is that?!"
Her first solo victory pumped her adrenaline. The audience went wild:
"Holy crap—Zoe actually killed him without taking a scratch!"
"After all that effort, that final series of parries was so slick!"
"She looked like a master swordsman up there!"
"We are the champions!!!"
As Graves's spirit dispersed, a little golden orb of light drifted toward Zoe. A tooltip popped up:
[Item acquired: Healing Elixir. Restores HP over time.]
"Nice — an auto-heal elixir," Zoe laughed, though she didn't need it after that flawless victory.
She strode to the massive closed gates of Weiming City—tall, iron-bound, and immovable. No way to push them open, and too high even for a wolf's leap.
Then Zoe remembered what Master Ashin had whispered: there's a hidden postern by the moat.
She scouted the perimeter and found a narrow ledge carved into the stone beside the moat's outer wall. Below—dark water, swirling vines, and sheer drop. But for a wolf, impossible is nothing.
Zoe sprinted, leapt, and latched onto that ten-inch-wide ledge. Shouts of excitement flooded the chat:
"Don't look down, Zoe!"
"You'll die if you slip!"
"Old dev, are you trying to break us?!"
"This is hardcore—Sekiro is next-level!"
Zoe edged along until, at last, she reached a heavy wooden door set into the far wall. She twisted the latch and slipped inside a dim tunnel...
The screen faded to black—and when her vision returned, young Master Ashin stood before her.
"Wolf, you found it—the secret passage," the boy said, eyes bright with gratitude. "Let's go."
"As you command," Zoe replied, bowing low in character.
"Now let's escape this place!" Ashin grinned.
Zoe hesitated for a moment—she reached out to hug the little master. But a translucent barrier shimmered between them. She sighed.
"No hugging NPCs," the dev must have thought. "We can't spoil Tifa's avatar—or this little cutie!"
Zoe laughed and followed Ashin into the darkness, ready for whatever awaited beyond…
