Chapter 304 - HP: Wizardry’s a Hassle, Wand-Chapter 33: Hippogriffs

After watching Draco's demonstration, the young witches and wizards safely opened their own Monster Books of Monsters without incident. No accidents occurred during this process, allowing the tense and worried Hagrid to breathe a long sigh of relief and quietly cheer himself on in his heart.

"That's right, just do it like that. Believe in yourself, Hagrid—you can teach a great first lesson!"

Since the book situation was sorted, it was now time for the actual class to begin.

"Ahem! Very good, now everyone has their books, so all we need next are the magical creatures. Stay put here, everyone—you can move around a bit, but don't wander too far. I'm going into the forest now to 'invite out' our partners for today!"

Hagrid cleared his throat, then looked pleadingly at Hermione, as if asking the girl to help keep an eye on the other young witches and wizards to prevent anyone from being mischievous and running off against orders. Hermione was stunned for a moment, then smiled and made an "OK" gesture in response.

"Looks like Hagrid's still quite nervous for his first class."

Watching Hagrid turn and leave, his figure disappearing into the Forbidden Forest, Hermione teased.

"But he's clearly underestimating the unconscious discipline of the students at Hogwarts these days. Not to mention everyone's third-years now—after experiencing so much, they certainly won't run off."

This was indeed true. The more experiences one has, the more mature one becomes. The third-year young witches and wizards were no longer what they used to be. Even if Hagrid said nothing and went straight into the Forbidden Forest to find magical creatures, they absolutely wouldn't venture too far away.

Never mind anything else—just the fact that this place was on the edge of the Forbidden Forest completely eliminated any thoughts of careless wandering among the young witches and wizards who had survived the life-and-death crisis of the acromantula uprising.

They were no longer naive newcomers.

The result was exactly as Hermione predicted. Everyone was very well-behaved, at most taking walks along the fence and chatting, but absolutely no one would leave the main group—whether alone or in groups—even twenty meters away.

Even the mischievous young witches and wizards managed this.

Hagrid returned quickly as well, clearly having made proper preparations as a qualified professor before class.

He was tightly gripping twelve long chains, at the end of which were twelve creatures so extraordinarily strange that most people could hardly imagine them, causing the young witches and wizards to exclaim in amazement and surprise.

However, Glenn and Hermione, who were well-read and had nearly worn out all the books about magical creatures in the library while searching for Basilisk information last year, clearly knew what these creatures were.

They had the bodies, hind legs, and tails of horses, but their front legs, wings, and heads seemed similar to eagles. They had steel-colored sharp beaks and bright orange large eyes, with claws on their front legs that were half a foot long, looking capable of easily causing death.

Around their necks, each wore a thick feather collar—that's where Hagrid's chains connected to them.

"Hippogriffs."

Hermione softly spoke the name of these magical creatures.

"Come here, my good children!"

Hagrid roared, shaking the chains in his hands, calling out and leading the twelve hippogriffs to stand in front of the fence where all the young witches and wizards were gathered.

Hagrid tied the chains in his hands to the fence, and the chains immediately rattled, making the young witches and wizards' hearts skip a beat. Although filled with curiosity, they all instinctively took a step back in unison.

What cowardice—this was called being sensible!

Didn't you see those incredibly sharp claws on the hippogriffs' front legs?!

If you accidentally got scratched, you'd definitely end up with torn skin and flesh.

Can't mess with them, really can't mess with them.

But Professor Hagrid, bringing out such explosive content for our very first lesson—does Professor Dumbledore know about this?!

This is only the first lesson! What on earth will their future Care of Magical Creatures classes cover?!

However, even so, fear of these dangers couldn't mask the curiosity and adventurous spirit that humans possess in their youth. Though afraid, this didn't prevent them from greatly anticipating the future content of Care of Magical Creatures courses.

This was much more exciting than staying in classrooms for lessons.

They said they were scared, but their bodies were quite honest~

It's just that there might be life-threatening danger during class.

They were both weak and loved to play.

So the weak should practice more...

Ahem, getting off topic. In any case, the young witches and wizards were currently in a contradictory state of both fear and curious excitement, wanting to retreat according to biological instinct while also wanting to move forward according to curiosity to appreciate these fantastical, beautiful, and dangerous creatures in detail.

It must be said that the hippogriffs' appearance was indeed stunning. At first glance, they seemed strange and peculiar, like a fusion of two different creatures, but the more you looked, the more shocking and awe-inspiring they became, making one marvel at nature's supreme power to create such aesthetically pleasing beings.

Never mind anything else—just their shining, smooth feathers and fur looked incredibly soft to the touch, with the transition between feathers and fur being very fluid and smooth, without any sense of discord, making people want to quickly reach out and stroke them.

Even Hermione, who was weak to fluffy things, felt genuinely irresistible attraction.

However, Glenn remained a devoted fluffy enthusiast and expressed no particular interest in this.

Thinking of this, Glenn reached out to touch Hermione's excellently textured curly hair, incidentally smoothing out some messy areas.

Hermione showed no particular reaction to this, allowing Glenn to touch her freely, and continued moving closer to Glenn, directly pressing against his body so Glenn could better help her arrange her hair.

"These little ones are called hippogriffs."

"They're quite beautiful, aren't they?"

Hagrid happily waved his hands, gesturing for the young witches and wizards to look at these hippogriffs, his expression as joyful as a child showing off his favorite things.

"Well then, next comes the main event."

Hagrid rubbed his hands together, smiling as he looked at all the students, then continued:

"Our lesson today is to learn how to get along friendly with these lovely little ones. Everyone's goal is—"

"—to successfully approach them and groom the beautiful, smooth fur on these hippogriffs!"

"If you want to go further, and if they're willing, you might even be able to ride them for a circle in the air above the grounds!"

"Isn't that an interesting goal?"

Hagrid seemed very confident about his course arrangement, giving a thumbs up.

The scene fell silent for a few seconds, with only the sound of several hippogriffs snorting audibly.

Then came the young witches' and wizards' heartfelt exclamations of shocked bewilderment:

"Ah??????!!!!!!"
